If you could all contact the Mayor and tell him to stop trying to pursue BSL in his city. I am worried if Boston is allowed to go against the new State wide Ban (which went into effect on November 1st) other cities who had BSL will follow. here is a link to the new law that was passed : Session Laws: CHAPTER 193 of the Acts of 2012

The following article was posted today in our local paper discussing the mayor has filed a bill to get around the state law prohibiting BSL.

“This legislation is about making our neighborhoods safer,” Mayor Thomas M. Menino told the Herald. “In Boston, pit bulls bite far more than any other animals,” City Councilor Rob Consalvo said. “We should have this authority. Let the cities and towns choose on their own.” (side note I would like to see the numbers on this claim they are full of it. The only numbers I have seen are discussing bite stats going UP after 2004 when the first BSL in Boston started.)

Please click this link and tell the Mayor to stop trying to force discrimination based on breed and wasting money on trying to get the state law overturned. Why not concentrate on enforcing the new dangerous dog laws that target problem owners, not innocent dogs who have never done anything wrong.

Next week, Mayor Thomas Menino will put forth statewide legislation to return to Breed Specific Legislation in his priority package of bills. This could affect all of Massachusetts. Please take a minute to contacts your state senator and legislators and ask them NOT to co-sponsor any legislation that would allow cities and towns to enact breed-specific legislation in Mass. thanks! UGH It was ended on October 21st. Its the typical argument what is good for the big guys isn't the same thing for the little guys. The argument for for anything, heathcare, gun laws, dog laws, its all the same to come people. October 31st, BSL was abolished state wide.

The mayor said if it were up to him he would refuse to allow Chick Fil A to open in "his city" because Chick-Fil-A President's Anti-Gay Comments, he claimed no company that allows discrimination in his city! But he can discriminate against Responsible Dog owners and tell EVERYONE what kind of dog they are allowed to own?? Stop being two faced Mayor Menino!! You cant have it both ways! Guy needs to retire!
