No sooner than 12 months.

you can start getting your dog used to a harness real early,in my opinion it all depends on the individual dog.

Yess you can start early. You can officially compete at 9 months, Dont think your dog will be ready but you can compete and give your dog track time and experience to crowds and noises. We are working Switch and he is 4 months old. NOthing major mind you but we are getting him used to a harness and draggin against resistance.

Let me rephrase what I said...
By all means you can start early. But, not with heavy weights. I've known people to get 8-9 week old pups used to wearing a harness and dragging an empty plastic bottle behind them.
But heavy weights should not begin until 12 months of age, when the dogs frame has stopped growing. Putting a lot of stress on growing bones and joints can cause major health problems down the road.

A milk jug with some gravel in it would work. You want something lightweight that will get the dog used to pulling something noisy behind it.

Switch can EASILY drag 10lbs around, he just looks at it and tried to bite it. Again its not the weight a dog is pulling against, its the resistance the weight creates. If you are inside and your dog is pulling on carpet it will be easier than say on grass. Feel your dog out and DONT OVERWORK

Yup, I'll be there. Are you planning on making it? It would be fun to meet some members.
