Has anyone on here ever try to build one on their own? And were you successful?

They are pretty expensive.
A Friend of mine and I recently built one and it works..okay.
The best way to go and cheapest is to find an old treadmill on craigslist and convert it (just build a dox box around it)

Actually you can build one relatively inexpensive. Once you build the frame all you need is carpet, 2 6 inch pieces of pvc pipe and a slick laminated piece of wood and you can build a rather effective carpet mill.

I love our Grand Carpet Mill but I think I am gonna have to get a new belt it's almost worn through...you can get a cheap treadmill off craigslist, but I like the fact that they dog has to make the carpet mill go, and I personally feel they get a better more complete work out from it. JMO

Carpet mill builds a bulkier muscle than slatmill, but it still wont make your female as big as you seem to want her to be. She's 2. She's not going to gain much more than she has now. In fact, as my young dogs are heading into the home stretch to 2 years of age, they're starting to slim down and lose their puppy fat.
