Good Idea ?
Since zildjian doesn't get out enough for lots of exercise do you think it would be a good idea to let him do a little pulling ? Nothing big, Just like around the yard and such. He could run for hours and not be tired so, I dunno what to do to give him a good work out; so I though i'd ask the pros <3
Thx.

I'm not a pro, but how about strapping a tire to him and have him pull that?

do you live in a neighborhood where you could hang the leash out the window of your car and run him a while? My crew does.

Ok so you wrote you do not have enough time to give the dog enough exercise.
So you are saying you do not walk the dog a lot?
Why would you want to start weight pulling the dog?
What I read is you want to put a harness on the dog w/ a tire and just put it in a yard to run around.
Why not first work on spending time with the dog on WALKS then worry about wping.
you can not put a dog in a harness and tied to something to pull then leave it. the dog can and will get hurt by getting tied in the harness.

no no no! I would never nor do I leave my dog unattended ever.
We walk about 2 miles everyday but he still is FULL of energy.
And we play fetch for a while as well. It just seems what I'm doing isn't
enough excersize for him cause he is usually still full of energy when he comes inside.

i think you should try a tread mill out. you could find one for cheap around this time of year at a garge sale, they are very easy to convert into a doggy treadmill. i love mine and so do the dogs

Just wanted to point out here the obvious importance of using a proper designed wieght pull harness if you do decide to get him pulling, I wasnt sure if this was intended when you, or someone.., said "strap a tire on him". The only reason I point this out is because ive seen some idiots doing things like putting weights around dogs necks or tying rope to collar and then to a tire...etc.

..But i would say from my experiences, if you are already taking good walks and your dog is healthy etc., than it is great to add a LITTLE bit of weight and work your way up gradually, gives em a better workout and after they get used to it it becomes quite fun. After a while you will probably get into it and start doing short heavy pulls and such, requires good amount of research first though to keep from injuring dog. The CDPITS.COM site has harnesses as well as safety and pull training info... also raw diet info if your into that.

It was me, and I meant to have a proper harness and attach the end of it to a tire and have her dog drag that, as a starter into weight pulling.

Yeah, I've seen it done too. I would NEVER in my life do that to Zildjian; He is my child, I worry if he gets a thorn in his toe so yeah I would NEVER... What I meant if I was misunderstood. He is full of energy after our walks and playing for a bit & I just wanted to know if when I walk him have him be pulling as well ( Just a lil weight ) so it kinda makes the walk more intense on him to make him not so energetic when he comes inside.
