Question on puppy's ear before crop

I just wanted to get some input on my puppy's ear
before i get them cropped. One of my puppy's ears stays inside
out. He is 5 weeks and my vet wants to do the cropping
at 7 weeks. Will his ear being like this affect the outcome?

It shouldn't. Even more reason to crop in my opinion.

Yea def. crop if your thinking of showing. I have a American bully I got done cause he had a ear like that. You just will have to support and tape the ear for about a month.

I hope you tell and show the vet what style of crop you actually want! It seems like today's fad of ear crops are the battle crops. I requested a short crop (without showing actual pics) but kinda got a battle crop! I'd guess a vet has their own personal measurement of the term short! I'm not complaining too much because my dog's ear look good too me but it is a lil too wee short. It looks like it's between a short crop and a battle crop. I wish it was a tad bit longer. Most battle crops I've seen are hideous.

I like the battle crop on stockier dogs personally. The more square and sharp his angles then yeah, battle crop will look real good!

The problem with battle crops is you leave the ear open for things to get into it. That has been a problem with my working dogs and why I like a little longer crop now.

Yes I totally agree with battle crops being too low allowing dirt and junk into the dog's ears. I have to clean my dog's ears every day. I don't mind it though because he's a family dog that I touch and interact with daily. So it's just like me petting/massaging him in the ears. I definitely wouldn't recommend it for a working dog or a dog that stays outside for hours or even days, for god's sake!

Siren shakes her head all the time and she runs agility in the sand and when she was younger she was miserable! She really had to learn to deal with dirt in her ears all the time. After that I hate short crops.

Looks good so far can't wait to see him mature into them. Looks like the flopping over issue is already starting to resolve itself. Cute pup btw

There was a post that either I or someone else started some time ago, but i used this chart when i took Kenya to the vet....

But yes, its always good to show examples, so look online and bring in pictures. Ive seen both mistakes happen crop ended up too small or too long... luckily my vet was kick ass and i got exactly what i wanted lol..

Also, dont fret if the ears flop or are acting funny after the crop. it took kenya a lil while to learn how to hold her ears lol.... its those funny puppy stages lol

cute pup btw!
