Question about spaying

Hi everyone, this may be a dumb question, but at what age should I spay my pitbull. There is discussion out there that bully dogs take longer to develop so they should be altered at a later age. I waited until my english bulldog was 11 months old before I had him neutered. Some people believe that dogs who are altered earlier have a bit of stunted bone growth. I would prefer to have her altered as early as possible, because I don't want to deal with her going into heat, but not at the expense of her bone development. I know that many people have their pups spayed at an early age, I know shelters do it very early, but I don't just want her to be "fine" I want to really do what is best for her developmentally, if it means her frustration and mine through one heat, than I will deal with it. Thank you for any advise you can give :-)

You’ll get quite a few different viewpoints on this one. To my knowledge it does not stunt or limit their growth. Fixing a dog early tends to lower it’s aggression and drive. Here are two link that Sydney post last month about fixing dogs that I thought were rather interesting.

Here's another one that BahaMutt found.

With males it can make a small difference in the mass they develop, but with a female I wouldn't worry about it. 6 months would be good.
