Pit puppy problems!!!

I got my little APBT puppy named Wiz about 2 weeks ago. He has been introduced to my female border collie for a week now. He is 9 weeks old. They have the most closest bond any dogs I have ever owned have. Tex my border collie is a fixed female and has never had a litter she just turned 3 yesterday. Wiz usually tries to nurse on her and she will let him for how ever long he feels the need to do it. He also will bite right behind her front arm and wont let go she walks and drags him, she never tried to bite or be ugly to him when he looks like hes aggravating her like she has to other puppies that have been around her or has lived with her. How can I egt him to stop when they live together I hate to separate them because he screams like someone is killing him. I plan on starting basic training with him tomorrow. Is there anything I can do?

You should probly go ahead and start separating them.. might seem silly now but you never know if hes gonna be DA or not so you can go ahead and get him used to it

Yeah I would hold off having them be together while he is so young and working on manners. I am glad you are starting some training classes. I found having one come to my house worked best for me after I got him all set on the regular stuff. Your Collie will teach him manners though, so if she gets annoyed or snippy towards him she is trying to tech him how she expects him to behave. Especially since he is so you still. I would invest in a crate if you do not have one already and start training him especially for his teething puppy phase, keep him safe when you are not home and keep the collie and him separated if you are not around. basically start feeding and and giving good bones and treats in his crate, then start shutting the door for periods of time. Some dogs like a closed crates some like to see. My boy likes a radio on to cover the scary noises he cant see is my guess. Take a look at the training section, tons of great info on crate training and basic obedience to get you started.

There's nobody better than a dog to teach dog etiquette. Leave them together for now, he can get used to being apart when (if) you crate train. If you don't you can separate them for short amounts of time and gradually get longer but for now, this young it's good for him to be around other dogs. When he gets older you'll have to watch closer or separate depending on him but at nine weeks he's still a toddler and learning.

He's just being a pup, so nothing to worry about.
Since your female is a Border Collie, and not an ApBT, things should be much easier for you.
However, never allow them together, ever, without your supervision.
As for training, don't push too much too soon.
Everyone likes to train pups, but remember, he is just a pup.
I normally wait until the name is mastered, the sit command learned, as well as stay,
but most of all, until after the pup is fully potty trained.
I feel too many people go outside for help, and pay for what they can do themselves.
A well bred ApBT is a smart dog, some may say, too smart.
I have to spell words at times to fool my dogs.
Some can open doors, fridges, cabinets, and know how to escape from crates (I have to lock them shut.)
Also open crate to let another out. (I'll never keep two indoor dogs again!)

So when the pup is hanging on to her, just pick him up to end it.
Then distract him with something else. Get strong chew toy to play with. Pups like to bite.
Soon, he'll pick up play time ends when he bites her.

Btw, NEVER give in to his whining, EVER! Never respond to a whine.
That will cause greater problems, and he'll use it to get his way.

Well hopefully you put that bitch down.
Nothing worse than an ApBT that is child aggressive!
If towards adults too it was straight up HA....bad blood.

I have dogs from straight pit stock that get along just fine.
And why you saying the pup will be bad??????
They are American (pit) Bull Terriers!!!
They were never designed to be doggy social!
Most often little breeds have Napoleon complex and start the trouble.
My dogs generally ignore weak little dogs.

Then again, the ApBT is only for certain people that can handle them.
If a person can't accept the facts, and be responsible, they shouldn't own this breed!
And any wise person knows you never leave a bulldog alone with another dog, ever.

I don't think he meant the pup would be bad, I think he meant when it gets bigger the situation will be bad when a dog fight happens.

Okay, but it could have been worded better.

My point was, having game dogs, the grown accept puppies and tolerate all the pup biting.
Puppies having grown up with them have been fine in nearly (not 100%) all cases,
as long as there was adequate supervision.
Some just wanted action.
I can see if something is about to happen and put the dog in check with my eyes and controlling voice.
Now this is only with dogs/pups that have been associated with one or the others from puppyhood.
Strange dogs? With the exception of a few, forget about it.
It just won't happen, and even the ones that ignore other dogs,
they will not ignore another dog that wants trouble.
However, I have had grown dogs totally ignore the barks and cries of smaller breeds.
Why? Because they view them as puppies.
But a true puppy is unmistakable to them.
I would not tolerate a dog that EVER attacked a puppy.
Many old timers viewed them as curs, when a grown dog attacks a puppy.
