She went missing last night and your already looking to get another dog? I would be more concerned with looking for the missing dog. No respectable breeder would place a puppy if it's likely to get stolen. Would you be keeping the next one in doors to prevent being stolen or getting loose?

Have you researched this breed and Dog Aggression which is extremely common in this breed. They don't need nor do they tend to get along with other dogs upon maturity.

I'm with Holly on this one. Why look for a new dog when ur last one just got stolen less than 24hrs ago? I would focus on 2 things.... finding ur dog and finding out what u did wrong to get ur dog stolen. Otherwise ur new pup will end up goin to "new owners" again.

I am sorry but if my dog got stolen i wouldn't even want to think about getting another...I would be spending all my time and effort into finding my dog....If you left your dog out unattended while you were gone then you left someone an opening. I would check craigslist...i have heard of stolen dogs being "rehomed" on there.....I would also check shelters and pounds since apparently you weren't there when it happened so maybe your pup escaped??

I'm sorry to hear that your pup escaped/got stolen But shouldn't your sole purpose right now be searching for your missing pup? Since you don't have your puppy anymore, what is the point of looking for a "playmate" for it now?

Don't stop looking for your dog. My moms dog was stolen once and we got him back six months later. Two weeks ago our house was broke into and my bros chow pups were stolen. We filed a report and kept looking hours later the puppies were posted up on craigslist and thank God we were able to get them back. If you love this dog don't quit looking.

if someone stole my dog, they better move to Mars. it would become my sole purpose to seek and destroy. i would be conducting my own investigation. online search. neighborhood interviews. as well as starting a "lost/stolen dog" campaign. NO other thoughts would distract me. all my time and energy would be devoting to getting him back. looking for a new breeder would be minutes wasted.

How did your dog get stolen? let me guess you left it in the yard and thought noone would EVER come through a fence or gate to take her right?? im sorry but I think you have alot of learning to do before you get any other dog. And maybe some work to properly secure your place and maybe a way to where you can crate the pup INSIDE when you are not home.
If my dog went missing YESTERDAY I would still be out looking for them, posting flyers, hitting up all the local sites like kijiji, and CL ect ect , pet stores. 1 day does not show you care very much at all , that to me is a piss poor try at finding your pup. Owners like YOU make me MAD and SAD...
I had a friend who had her house broken into and they stole her show dog, she spent 6 MONTHS { not 1 day } looking for her dog, she found her. Some ass had bred her and started advertising for pups. she asked to come see the mom and found HER dog. She went through every ad for puppys, found dogs, shelters, everything she could to find her. THAT is what someone who CARES about there dog does.
Sorry but your post just pissed me off, dog missing 1 day and you on here asking us to recommend a good breeder, sorry but noone on here would want to see another dog in your care with the lack of care you have shown for this other pup and the lack of blame you have put on yourself, I don't think you have learned anything here from this experience and your next dog would be no better off.

Good post. I agree. If one of my babies got out, we're stolen etc I would search and search like crazy. My dogs are my kids. And I would go to the ends of the earth to find them.

I'm sorry, I have to agree with all posts above. If your dog is missing, you should be contacting vets offices, the shelter, posting flyers, etc. Doing everything in your power to search for your pup should be priority, not looking for a second dog.
I do have to ask though, how do you know your dog was stolen and didn't just escape? Did a neighbor or friend see the dog get stolen? If so, why didn't they do anything to stop the thief/thieves?

everything she said is right. you should take whatever money you were going to spend on a new pup and make a reward for her safe return. When our pups were stolen we only found them on Craigslist because we stayed up all night looking and then we ran our own sting operation to get them back. It's your responsibility to keep your dog safe who knows where she's at and how she is doing so you need to focus on bringing her home.

Wow. I'm so saddened to see what is considered good pet ownership these days. I thought a dog of mine was stolen 6 months or so ago. We live in the middle of nowhere so I searched and, hollered for her, asked around...nothing. I looked for months before I found out my neighbor shot her. I still miss that dog, I still flip off my neighbor Everytime I see him, and if I didn't love animals so much I would've shot his dog already. The police wouldn't help me or animal control. But I never gave up and I'm not even considering replacing her. My animals are a part of my family. Just another one of my kids. Very sad!
