Collar vs. Harness?

Which do you recommend or use for your puppy/dog?

We currently have both dogs in collars.

THe puppy (12 weeks) is in a simple nylon buckle collar. He's just about to outgrow this one, so we need something new!

Our female has a nylon buckle collar on always but we use a "limited closure collar" (I think that's what they are called) on walks as we're still working on the pulling issue

So i need to decide if we're going to stick with a collar for him or try a harness? He's pretty good on the leash (the walks around the yard and the few times we've walked down the block)

I would stick with a collar, harness's can be known to promote pulling so I generally recommend staying away from them. :-)

Harness do encourage pulling, and also can rub badly if not fit perfectly. I use collars only. The only thing my Harnesses get used for is Weight Pull.

Im a collar person too. I played with the idea of getting a harness for some situations. For example when I go camping and tie him out to something non moving. Like a tree or parked car, I thought a harness might be more comfortable. Or if I train him to run next to a bike I don't like the idea of hangin on to his neck like that.

But for the most part, I like a nice flat collar with a prong for walks and training only.

Notes about harnesses.....
