LONG,if you read the whole thing you need an award
About 5 years ago I got a dog from someone I knew who sold them at fleamarkets. He is a beagle/lab mutt and iv had him since he was 4 or 5 weeks. The guy is an elderly man and they were born in the cold and he couldnt care for them so i took the 3(2 found homes) and I was left with my pick,Max.
Well max got loose and a person on down the road fed him and even though my sister who lives beside them told them it was my dog they still keep feeding him and I could never get him back,he would come home but as soon as I got the leash out he was off again. Well that was about 2 years ago.He kind of wonders now and they dont feed him much.(They renamed him chester)
Now some people up here have been seen beating him repeatedly in the head and hitting him with car doors, neighbors keep calling and telling me. I have witnessed them also chasing him and yelling. I went walking the other day and he was on their porch(the people who feed him) and i was wearing my boots so my feet were scuffing, well he came after me! After I calmed him down and he realized it was me he stopped.
Almost everyone thinks he is still my dog,but hes be with them for 2 years. People tell me all the time hes snapping at people and chasing cars. I dont want any lawsuits nor him getting hurt.
I am going there tomorrow and bringing him back here,I think thats best for now. BUT i fear he will need to be PTS,I know its only because of those people torturing him but still Maybe after I get him home and away from all that he will be his normal self again ?

At this point I could honestly care less if its nice advice or to the point advise. I just need help soon. Also forgot to mention,he is the only dog bailey will even go near, she grew up with him.
What should I do ? See how it goes or ? I have a strong feeling someones going to get bit, something just keeps telling me to get him before its too late. All day today its been on my mind!

First take him back and why on earth did you jist let your dog run loose long enough for someone to feed him repeatedly anyways? If your not going to dedicate time and energy to rehabilitating or keeping him contained then have him pts. But in that case you have no business owning another dog again. Ultimately this was your fault for allowing him to run the road to begin with so now it's your responsibility to fix the problem you caused.

I have absolutely nothing nice to say about this! I've been through a situation similar but on the receiving end of an unwanted dog. If you let your dog roam the streets long enough that somebody felt the need to feed it than you have an issue. Your dog needs to be kept in your care at all times to protect him as well as others. Not to mention you've heard him being abused and have stood by and done nothing?? I've jumped right in the middle of people abusing animals that I had no right to and this was "your pick" and you sit on your rear and do nothing?? I'm apalled. Not shocked but disgusted. My advice to you would be to take the dog to the humane society. They will give him more care than I feel like you will. The poor little guy. THIS IS WHY I HAVE SO MANY DOGS!!! PEOPLE GET PETS FOR WHATEVER REASON THAT DON'T HAVE THE SENSE GOD GAVE A GOAT AND THEY END UP BEING ABANDONED IN THIS WORLD THAT THEY NEVER ASKED TO BE IN IN THE FIRST PLACE!!! UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I didnt just let him run loose, the people took him! They kept him in a building behind their house. Im not looking for another dog. I can give you a number to call and they will tell you, they took my dog! He got loose one time,2 years ago! I have been trying and trying to get him back, now that hes been beat he wont come to anyone. They got him again a few days ago after him running off somewhere and a friend of mine told me to do something cause if he stays with them he will get killed, they took her Chihuahua and she just got it back and its been over 2 months!
I dont let my dogs just run loose,in fact i think im the only up nearby that actually follows the leash laws.
AND I NEVER ASKED FOR ANYTHING NICE NOW DID I ? Im asking, should I keep him and risk peoples safety or him be pts ? Put the blame on me thats fine, but I didnt keep him locked up and let people beat him. He was their dog legally,I just couldnt go marching in their yard and take him home. This is why I never posted about him before,i couldnt get him

The guys who beat him are druggies who break in peoples houses all the time, they could care less about me or my dogs. I have the paper from call animal control multiple times! And my humane society is a kill shelter,if they have behavioral or health problems they put them to sleep,I volunteer there

Lol at that last statement. If I didnt get this dog he wouldnt be here today. As I stated in the first sentence,he was born in the cold,no shelter,no care,3 hours from here. I kept him for 3 years,he got loose 1 time, thats all it took. I used to rescue dogs,I NEVER let them run loose ? If i did my dog wouldnt be on a chain spot right now,now would she ?

Aireal got it right but what do you mean it's not your fault? You explained it like this:

You have let this dog wonder and starve and are now just concerned because you're afraid if liability due to people knowing its your dog. And this is after you have let it be abused for 2 years then ask if you should go get it to go kill it? Seriously please fix your fuck up. There is no reason a dog should not be properly contained. Ever. Plan on putting work into this dog. If not find a rescue that might help fix your mistake but don't dump him!

See this is why I never told the story,no one listens.Let me explain AGAIN.
-he got loose one day
-they put him in the building
-that was 2 years ago
-now like i said,he got loose from them about 2 weeks ago,he came home, got beat and then the neighbor got her dog back and told me to go get mine
-but where he has been beat so much,he wont come to anyone....now do you get it ?

I just posted and explained that. I did call AC, I did tell them. Do you understand that our AC put an order out for a pitbull to be put down years ago that attacked its owner, guess what ? its still up this road like nothing happend
The AC is over 35-40 minutes away,I called them. Well you gotta catch it on video, thats all they would ever tell me.

for the 2 weeks that he was loose he came up here occasionally , maybe 3 times at the most. Where he has been hit on he wont come near me or the leash!
