How long is too long to be in a crate?I am gone from 9:30 to 5pm about 3-4 days a week,Bailey does fine all night in a crate which is a little more than 8 hours. How long would be too long? Will it be okay from 9:30 -10?

With a long walk/run after I get home?

Usually have at least a foster a month,its so rewarding to see a dog that always stayed in the back of the kennel turn in to a playful puppy :)

8-9 hours is ok but 10-12 is really pushing it. If it's just a few day a week then ok but if it's 10-12 consistently that's not good IMO. I know some people who have to do that and they have a pet sitter or neighbor come over to let the dogs out for a little bit. I pay my neighbor girl if I'm going to be over 8 hours to let the house dogs out. The alternative is putting them outside in a dog run. Sometimes I work 18 hour days and the outdoor dogs are fine but the neighbor kid comes over to let the inside dogs out like twice a day.

I agree with Lisa. That's def pushing it. My mom moved to Rockledge to be closer to me because on occasion one of us works, or has to leave town for a day or two and having her closer makes it easier to make sure none of our dogs are left too long.
My dogs are crated for 9 hours max for 5 days a week. I ALWAYS have at least one dog day over the weekend, and they are walked at least once every morning and sometimes in the evening too.
There are tons of companies out there that will pop in and let them out for you for a few bucks per visit. If you can swing an extra few, sometimes they will waslk them too.
I don't trust anyone else to walk Ecko, so I keep it to just potty breaks when I use them.

I said the same as the other 2. I occasionally have to leave my girls crated for 10-12. But on a daily basis is too much unless you can come home for lunch, let them out and do fetch or something.

working rotating shifts myself, so that means 3-4 days a week i'm working 12 hours with no chance of running by the house. usually my roommate is home for the first few hours or if i'm working night shift he's home a few hours before me and lets the puppy out. Conan hates being in there but he has to learn to get used to it anyway. he gets his exercise as soon as i'm home though.
