Crazy day/night
So my day started at 6am (all times are west coast)this morning when i woke up to go to the bay area for a Toyota training class for work. According to Google Maps it was 93.7 miles one way, at least they put me in a brand new Camry (SE V6 :P) and i didnt have to pay the gas. either way thats a lot of driving, i left early and still got there late (stupid traffic). Went to class all day, left there at 3pm, drove back to the dealership to pick up my truck and didnt get home till 6pm! bleh!
Then i remembered that Boss was completely out of food.... so i gave him a sample bag of food i got a while back and called the rescue group. By 7pm i was told they have food now and i can now come and pick it up.
On my drive over to the President of Chako's house, i stopped cause there was a guy in the street.... then i realized he was tryin to chase down this brindle "pit bull" who had no collar on. i came to a stop and the dog kinda circled my 4Runner cuz i had Odin with me and im sure he could tell. then the guy came up and the dog ran off again. i almost went on my way, but i couldnt. the street was kinda busy and the dog kept runnin back and forth across. so i pulled over and got the guys attention. i gave him Odin's leash (something told me to take the lil red leash and not his good blue leash and now im happy i listened to my head) and he said "the dog is my brother's, he just keeps him locked in his room. im not sure how he will handle with a leash. but thank u!" yeesh... i hopped back in my 4Runner and as i pulled away, he had the dog looped on the leash, since it had no collar either. at least he got him.
i finally made it to house i was pickin the food up from only to discover that they had purchased Purina Dog Chow. YUK! oh how i wish i could afford Acana for Boss too! but hey, i agreed to foster under the circumstances that they provide medical, food, toys, crate, and training. so Dog Chow it is for Boss.... gross.
But she did give me a lil Christmas gift for Boss and Odin!
and here it is almost 9:30pm and im just now eating dinner..... yay me!

no, thats the thing that got me... not sure if u know the gals with Chako or not.... but Shannon (adoption coordinator) brought me Authority grain free when she dropped of Boss and i picked the Dog Chow up from Dawn (chako pres). I was almost thinkin that i shoulda gone to buy the Authority and then had them pay me back. Petsmart had the 15lb bag for $18 but im sure i coulda found it cheaper...

I feel you - with working full time, with a 3+ hour commute (round trip) and almost a full class load I am lucky if I get to bed before midnight most nights and I get up at 6:30am. The last couple of weeks, in getting ready for finals I was up until 1am most nights. I also recently added a weekday workout routine which takes another 45 minutes out of my evenings. Something about idle hands...

Yeesh! U got me beat. I'm not usually this crazy busy. Usually just wake up at 8am, feed pups, leave for work at 9:30am and home by 7:30pm and feed pups and try to get to bed before midnight. Usually I'm pretty boring, so this was out of my ordinary.

sooo lil update on Boss. he did sooo bad on the Dog Chow that i gave it back to Chako. he had the runs soooooo bad, i broke out my carpet cleaner and was having a hard time keeping up with him. so the final straw was tuesday morning when he threw up. i called Chako and went and got a new bag of food (gave back the Dog Chow and it will prolly be on the black list now) this new food is Simply Nourish, not great but much better. and then yesterday (wednesday morning) he pooped blood! so i called Chako again and Dawn helped me find someone who could take him to the vet! he went today (thursday) and honestly since just switching the few meals hes already gotten a bit better.
well the vet told the other volunteer that Boss needed the typical "chicken and rice" in small portions for 3 days and regular portions for a week. I think this is total crap! especially since by just changing foods has helped already. i cant afford to buy him chicken, and the rescue is gunna send me some money but jeese! i bet hed be fine if i just fed him GOOD dry kibble!

Was it bright red blood or mucous-y? When Loki was a pup and still eating that Beneful crap he would have reddish-purple mucous in his poop. Switched to grain free and problem solved.

@Carrie... yes it was mucusy but the morning with the blood was straight blood. but i think ur right it seems to be all food related. his poop this morning is almost all back to normal.

Be careful Lauren, if you spread yourself too thin and get worn down you could get sick. It happened to me this year, and I am still feeling like crap after over a week of being sick. Take a breather and sleep.
As far as Bossman goes, I'd have just given him his old food and a tablespoon of pumpkin. No need for vet visits and chicken and rice. Too much work. LOL!
Glad things are better, but don't forget to rest.

Thanks Shanna. ive been sleeping but i just feel tired. and i only suggested the vet since hes not my dog. Chako sent someone to take him and they paid for it. they also covered the switch. i know he's not gunna have the same food every time because they run on donations and get what they get. unless i cover the cost of food, which i cant afford....
