Question about my dogs recent actions

Lately my pit (mossy, just over a yr old) has been very loving and standing guard a lot. We sit on the back porch and she either wants to be in our lap or she is standing posted up staring at the rd behind our house (her hair is not standing up she is not growling or barking she's just standing and staring). If she's not sitting in our lap starring out or standing doing t she's sitting in her chair staring out. Kinda weird just trying to see if y'all have an idea. She's never been aggressive either and she's not being aggressive during this either just weird that she's constantly looking like she's on gaurd.

She is just watching the world around her. Mine is very visual too. He loves to stand and stare out the fence like a statue and watch the people go by or the squirrels play.

This breed should be very up-on-their-toes. To oaraphrase a breed judge, "like they expect at any minute to see something new and exciting." I've peeked at my dog out in her run from time to time, and if she's not snoozing in the sun, she's usually just sitting on her table, watching for squirrels. Even my older dog is very "up" when she's outside, because she knows there may be an opportunity to chase rabbits or run off a stray mutt.

If she's intact, the extra-loving and wanting to sit on your lap could be related to heat cycles. Or she could just be a love-sponge bulldog.

Thank y'all both very much. She loves to chase the deer that ate behind my house so that could explain it. Plus I think it's about the tone for her cycle to be starting. Her last one was in the beginning of August so I'm sure the next one is due soon. lol. And she also has always been a love sponge dog. Thank yall
