I'm looking in the future to be getting a bully breed not sure what kind though, Since I'll be 18 In December and i kind of want a dog of my own to do things with

. I was wondering what you guys think would be a better breed for me? While American Bullies may not be what I'm looking for because I do want something that isn't so over done. I know most aren't but that's mainly what i see a lot everywhere i go, Overdone dogs. They look like low riders that have a hard time getting over speed bumps. Again overdone dogs not the American Bully in general lol.

I'm active - Walking,jogging stuff like that
I do have other dogs (Might be an issue) But like i said in the future when i move out, and they are my dads dogs.
I've done research on the APBT there is so much more to learn but I've been around a lot of bully breeds and have had a few in my household before so i have had general experience with them :3

How does the American Staffordshire Terrier differ from the American Pit Bull Terrier temperament wise towards other dogs? I know that its common for terrier breeds to have DA but I'm just curious because I don't really look into Amstaffs just pittys.

I also have a hard time having just one dog around me I like 2 thats why i asked about DA. I have read many topics on here and learned a lot

Also got some books about Pit bulls and Staffys but i prefer hearing it from people rather than a book.

And these are 2 of my buds! The one on the left is an 9 month old female (vets estimate) found in a ditch next to a canal her name is Little Bear and the one on the right is a 2-3 year old male named Steeler that i got when i just turned 15 he was at my local shelter and they had lowered his price to just 17 dollars because he was dying. Took him a few months to get better

Just my 2 cents here, since I got Odin from my local shelter that's my suggestion. While I can't tell you what breed he is since I don't have a pedigree on him, I do know that he is very loving and loyal. Also if you do get an older dog, you have a better chance of finding a personality that fits your lifestyle. And there is no shortage of "pit bulls" at the shelters. Like I said, I'm biased cuz that's where I found Odin

Oh and welcome to GP! Its sounds like you've been lurking a lil bit but there is much to learn still!!!

Oh yes i lurk this thread a lot ^^
Was just unsure where to post i have a tendency to feel unwanted on forums haha! But i know that is not true.

My best bet would be rescuing one but than there is always that thing you don't know their background or how they will react to certain situations but with a dog that has been fostered that person can give you a better insight and stuff. Who knows what the 2 above have been through the female is skittish and weary of strangers but once she sees them in the light like day time she turns into a pig and her little rump wiggles so hard she flops down o:

I have plenty of time i think I'll look around local rescues and stuff like that just to get a better idea, Every dog my family has ever had came from off the streets or out of the shelter. Thank you

Ah, well yes, u are very wanted here!!! And although yes, some rescues have issues like that, I'm sure that u can find a dog that can fit ur needs. Odin was a year old when I got him and doesn't really have any hang ups or issues. Well, no cats... but I don't have any anyways.

Where abouts are u from? I know that Chako, my local pit bull rescue, evaluates dogs really well. Puts them threw the ringer, much more than the shelter, and can tell u what set backs a dog might have.

I'm located in Mesa, Arizona. I don't know of any Pitty rescues here or well i also haven't looked. Haha perhaps i should start!

Yes many shelters just throw a number on a dog and put it up for adoption, with no insight on it's personality and how it reacts to certain situations whether it be negative or positive. But hopefully i find a place because i would like to save a life and gain a friend :3
