I need help.
Long story short.
Me and my pit were playing with each others and instead of the toy, he's accidentally got my arm instead. It wasn't a big deal at all, but since I've been sick for few days now, so I decided to go to the doctor. Once I was there, I told them about the mark bite as well and let them take a look at it since I'm already here. However, they made me signed one of those reports and it's for the animal control center, and decided to faxed over there to them and filed a report.
No matters how much I tried to tell them to let it go, nothing is really a big deal here, but they won't listen to me.
I live in Orange County, California. Can anyone tell me what's going to happen to me or my dog? It wasn't aggression at all or anything like that. I am really worry and don't know what to do.
Please let me know.
Thank you.

yeah MADE you sign? No you snitched on yourself. plus was it infected? Did you need medical Attention? They cant ignore bites especially if you told them it was from a dog. Did you tell them it was your own dog? And did you tell them you don't know what breed your dog even is?

Omg wow. SMH!!!! Shame shame. If it really was "an accident" and it really was "no big deal" you should've kept your mouth shut. You don't have to sign anything you could've walked right out. Who the hell knows what they could do to your dog now because of your own stupidity. Geez

No you guys don't understand. Lucy and I went to grab a tennis ball at the same time and she nailed me. Just a little more than a scratch, no big deal. But a week later with a105 temp and infection in my entire arm. There was only 1 way I could have gotten it and they interrogated me till I cracked. It's part of hospital protocol. Even I couldn't fool em. I did refuse to sign the report and I got a visit by animal control a week later to investigate. Luckily they know Lucy and bought my story. She still has a bite on her record. It's health dept and disease control issue not "their gonna take your dog away from you" issue. Im just more diligent and keep her current on all shots as to not draw any attention to her records.

this is actually a topic i wanted to ask about several months ago because of something i read on another forum i belong to (is it okay for me to post a link to that?)
Never go to the hospital with a dog bite and tell the truth... Almost got arrested... - Survivalist Forum
anyway, the lesson i learned... if your dog, or a friend's dog bites you (accident or not), and you must go to the hospital... LIE YOUR ASS OFF.
tell the docs it was a stray mutt. that it happened in a public place. that nobody else was around. and you have never seen the dog before or since.

My moms rat terrier bit her one time on accident and she got an infection and that's what she did. She told them she went for a walk and a dog bit her leg and they didn't ask anymore questions.

that's good. i think more people should know about this. it's basically entrapment. they give you all this paperwork about the incident. then claim it's a disease control issue. then why the hell do they call animal control? and not the damn CDC? or department of health?
legislators design and put these protocols in place to disguise their true intent. they rely on people being uniformed and scared. i get so irritated by this kinda stuff.

These things happen.. there are many times and most times even when dogs are fighting the person gets bit for being in the way; it was not a directive bite. Meaning it was your negligence not the dogs, or "accident" if you prefer the word. In most cases of myself and all that I've witnessed and or heard of.. the person could've avoided it by paying more attention, your gonna get got here and there if you play rough with your dogs.
As far as legality .. google dog bite laws orange county.. most likely if its your dog and you was just playing rough and you know for sure it wasnt Human Aggression, then they will keep your dog for 8-10 days or order you quarantine him in your home... mostly likely they will take the dog for 10 days. I would suggest goin to see him as often as possible. They keep the dog for rabies.. but really its so they can see how your dog behavior is around total strangers.
Good luck and best of wishes...

I wish I read all of these before this whole thing happened. And you are right. They didn't contact with animal control, I believe they contacted through "petcare", and from what I know is that they will quarantine the dog at your own house (w/ rabies shot) for 10 days since the day the incident happened and at their pound (w/o rabies shot).
Thank you and I'll keep you guys posted.

I need help.
This happened to my cousins Pittie, he was playing with an attorneys wife (eye roll). He accidentally clipped her trying to grab the ball and she freaked. Duke (the dog) was quarantined. Now this could have been circumstantial, and they live in CT, so don't necessarily count on it, however it could be a possibility.
Best of luck, for you and your puppy dog <3

One thing if you get an infection and NEED to show a doctor, can always make up a story so it is not on your dog as well. But this guy said it was nothing , so sounds like there was no reason to show a doctor, To me just sounds like a whiney baby who should have sucked it up.
Iv been bit and thought I cleaned it well enough and had it blow up 3 days later with a bad infection. My hand was the size of a soft ball. It was my inlaws chow that got me while I was feeding chickens, she wanted the food and my hand was in the way. I had to go to the doctor and then sent me to the hospital for IV treatment. I was able to say it was a random dog when I was out walking, nothing was ever brought to my inlaws dog and was easily able to avoid any uneccessary drama. To me there are ways around bringing your dog in the mix and putting risk on them.
