Innova Low Fat...Why such a low rating from dogfoodanalysis.com?
I just looked at the low fat Innova I have been feeding Tasha at the dog food review site: Dog Food Reviews - Main Index - Powered by ReviewPost and they rate Innova Low Fat Adult Dry Dog Food as 3 stars when the regular Adult food is rated 5 stars? What is up with that? The only difference is that the low fat does not contain chicken meal.
This has made me seriously doubt the validity of the reviews of the dog foods on this site.

the reviews aren't just from this site. I fed royal canin to Chino when I first got him. He did excellent on it, and I would have been fine... But it's a 3 star food and Blue Buffalo was not much of a difference cost wise, and not only does he like it more, I see smaller stool sizes, shinier coat, etc.
Just because our dogs do ok on it doesn't mean it's superior. People feed WalMart crap and their dogs seem to do ok on it.

Innova Evo Low fat is a 6 Star food. It has essential Omega 3 and 6 acids and it is grain free. Apples, carrots and potatoes are the starchy thickener which provides a substancial amount of carbs.

Considering the ingredients as I see them I think they are full of crap to be quite blunt. As I said earlier, eliminating the chicken meal does NOT make the food drop from 5 stars to 3 stars.
In regards to how a dog does on certain foods I don't put much faith in that. I know people who feed their purebreds crap like 'Ol Roy or Purina One and their dogs live long lives. The food may not be harmful but I think they could certainly be fed something of higher value.
Us humans could eat Taco Bell, McDonald's, Wendy's and others all our lives as well and possibly live to an old age but I still do not think that is a quality of life that I would recommend for anyone!

yea we fed my mut growin up "moist and meaty" for 17 years! a 3 star food is still respectable considering most of the foods on there are 1 star.
edit: just looked. it is a 6 star food.

I am going to look into the price of the EVO compared to the regular Innova as it sounds excellent.

Its not because the better food lacks chicken meal. I dont think chicken meal is THAT bad. What gives it a better rating is the lack of grain

Chicken meal is better than chicken overall so that is not the problem.
Does the regular Innova have a lack of grain? I don't think so.
You didn't read the ingredients did you?
The first 10 ingredients of regular adult Innova:
Turkey
Chicken
Chicken Meal
Barley (a grain)
Brown Rice (a grain)
Potatoes
Rice (a grain)
Chicken Fat
Flaxseed
Herring
It is rated at 5 stars.
Low-fat Innova's first 10 ingredients are:
Turkey
Chicken
Barley (a grain)
Brown Rice (a grain)
Potatoes
Rice (a grain)
Pea Fiber
Chicken Meal
Herring
Natural Flavors
The difference is negligible and yet the low-fat is listed under 3 stars.
I sent them an email today asking why they did not review it and gave it such a low rating when it is almost the same except the chicken meal being lower on the list. That would make it lower in overall protein content but I don't think it deserves to be in the class with "The Dog Whisperer's" crap.
