I'm back and need help please.
I haven't been on since nov. of 09, my boy smoke died and I just stayed away. I see a few old faces and lots of new ones and to the people I haven't met Hi. I am getting a 3 week old pup tomorrow and it is not weaned or been cared for much at all. This is the bitch dogs first litter, it was her first heat and she had 8 pups. She does not have enough milk and the pups are starting to lose enough weight you can see it. I'm gonna take one of the bigger pups and I did buy the mom a bag of totw (she was eating dollar store cheap food an not much of that) and I plan on buying her some sort of milk replacement to mix with her food. I will do what I can for the mom and the litter but the guy is not gonna give up his dog so I will get him the supplies so he can take care of her. I have raised most every kind of critter but I have never had a pup this young before so anything yall can help with is welcome advice, the only thing is that whatever advice that is offered has to be do it yourself or cheap because my finances are tight. Thanks for any help

If the pup is gonna be 3 weeks introduce it to kibble moistened with milk replacement. That is the best way since it is old enough it can eat. take the pup to the vet weekly and of course as soon as you get it just to make sure it is progressing. Make sure you don't fix alot at once as they will only eat untiltheir full and the rest of the food will go bad some pups can over eat and make themselves sick so small incriments throughout the day probably set the food out for like 5 mins every 2 hours. Make sure to worm the puppy kind of often myself I worm at 2, 4, 6, and 8 weeks then once a month after that. You should ask your vet on what they recommend as that worming schedule is a pup with its mother. May want to do more like 3, 6, 9, and 12 weeks and then monthly after that. Keep the pup on replacement milk atleast put the powder over its food until 6 weeks most will say 8 weeks. Goats milk is really good if you don't like Esbilac(or what ever brand powdered replacement milk). keep an eye out and make sure the puppy is using the bathroom on their own as the mother could still be stimulating it to use the bathroom although it should be doing this on its own. other then that best to talk to your vet about care as I'm sure I have missed something. Been 4 years since I've had pups.

I've read goats milk is a good suppliment. But wouldn't it be better to supppliment the pups and leave them with mom until 8 weeks?

Honestly that depends on the situation if the pups are in filth and not being properly cared for then no. The mother probably need round the clock help as that is like a 10-12 year old trying to raise a baby.

I agree...plus the fact that the mom has been bred at 9 to 10 months old as was already stated...first heat...first litter eating dollar store dog food. Sounds like the pups need to get out of there as well as the mom. Doesn't sound like a good situation for all.

Rather than by the mother 1 bag of TOTW why not get 2 bags of a cheaper food? You can get many types of feed for $20 or less per 50lb bag at Walmart. They are not as good as TOTW but it will give her food for a longer period.
MSK gave you sound advice for feeding. Goats milk work great, but do not use multi milks. Milks that say they are for kittens, puppies, goats ect are not good. Either goats milk or puppy milk. I would rub the puppies belly to stimulate digestion, but it should be going potty on its own now. If not you may need to stimulate with a warm rag by just rubbing the privates and encouraging it to "go". This simulates the mothers licking and nuzzling.
I would recommend you look into what a puppy gets social wise from the litter between 5-8 weeks old so that you know how to deal with the training that will come from a puppy without litter mates.

I use Capstar on the mother dog to knock the fleas off the pups will get it through her milk and is safe. Then Advantage for momma take excess tiny drop on back of each pups neck. I also give the mother a tsp. of Apple Cider Vinegar the all natural organic every 3 or 4 days in her food for help with digestion and fleas. You can also dilute it and use it kind of like a spray for fleas safe for pups also. As early as 3 weeks you can bathe them in Dawn dish liquid also helps with fleas and safe for pup. You do not want to do to much no more dawn in your hand then you would to wash your hands.

As soon as you walk in your house put him straight in the bath and wash him with the blue original dawn dish soap! You can kill those little suckers before they infest your home
