My pup is 10wks old and my hubby wants to crop his ears. I'm fearful to put my pup thru that pain. What are your opinions. Thanks!

it's all a matter of your own personal option. i cropped my girl and wouldn't have it any other way. to me they look very regal with the crop and less like a goofy puppy ( which i personally do not like). but others love the goofy ears and that's fine for them, so to me it's not a matter of what we can tell you it's what is going to make you happy with your pups for the rest of his life.

yea its personal preference...

i cropped kenyas ears at 10wks i believe and it wasnt too bad... she was kinda clingy the firs day but then after that she was a boundy playful puppy.... and i think kenya looks great with her ears done

i do like floppy ears but only a certain look, and kenya did not have that so i cropped em

Exactly! I on the other hand rarely like a cropped pup and think they look more regal with ears since the head doesn't stand out as much. Totally personal preference! As long as you get it done by a licensed vet more power to ya I say! As to if it causes pain after, of course your removing skin and there could be stitches involved. (Not with a laser crop I think) but there are pain management and as long as the pup is young, younger the better. Supposed to be less pain because the cartilage gets stronger as the pups grow. But they are also too young to remember. HOW people know think I have no clue since dogs can't talk I am sure some people feel they can read their minds and actions whatever you decide don't want too long and don't let someone else's opinion bother you too much. YOUR the one feeding your dog. It's a lifetime commitment and don't have regrets!

Ok great that's what I thought but most of my family has been telling us how horrible it would be and what not so I thought I'd get a few extra opinions but I think he would look better with the cropped ears jut don't want him to hate me lol! I cringe when he gets his shots just an overprotected mommy I guess lol.

I have had both natural and cropped and as hard as it is to crop when they have such cute puppy ears I fully regretted not doing our dog we left natural. From now on any dog I have here if within a reasonable age will have cropped . { I feel strongly about not cropping over a year in age, closer to 6 months is my actual cut off although many feel you can do it at any age. } all personal prefrence. I agree though a good crop makes a dog look very regal. Find a good experienced vet though who can show pictures or prove they have done many of them, a bad crop can just ruin a look.
