You need to separate them for 10 days. Your female will be more at risk for the stitches getting opened. They should be crated and let out a few time to go potty a day then right back in the crate. They should have their own crate not sharing. It's very important for them the heal up. Your male will heal in 5-7 days and be fine to run around after that but your female will take longer. I see more people not take this serious and let the dogs run after a few days.... they end up back at the vet to have the dogs stitches put back in or worse the dog caused an internal bleed and they have to have major surgery. Also watch for licking, if you see any get a cone so they can't lick.

Def agree ^learned my lesson. When Bailey got spayed over a year ago,she popped her stitches over a neighbors dog and had to get it done all over again! Please crate/separate them!

Usually have at least a foster a month, its so rewarding to see a dog that always stayed in the back of the kennel turn in to a playful puppy :)

Could I possibly leash her to my bed instead of crating?

That sounds like a very bad idea.
