Salmon oil and Enzymes

Been researching dif foods and supplements that will help Macy's allergies. I have been giving her benadryl and that helps with the biting and scratching but I'd rather find another solution. Salmon oil supplement along with Enzymes have been popping up the most. She is missing hair around her tail and some random spots going up her back. I haven't seen any fleas since she was treated for them and the allergy shot didn't seem to work. her bald butt makes me feel like I'm a bad owner :/ I will heading to the pet store for some hydrocortisone lotion to see if that helps and prob grab some Salmon oil . Anyone have any advice or recomendations as to what brands work best. I have had her at the vet several times and I can't afford to keep taking her week after week. I think $300.00 in vet bills in 6 weeks is enough for a bit lol How long does it usually take for the hair to grow back? I just want my dog to look and be healthy.

What are you feeding her?
Zymox is a great brand for shampoo and topicals.
Benedryl only masks the allergy. The key is to find the source.
in most cases it's food related.
My own dog had a ton of issues. We made it through them, and he has all of his hair back, and only occasionally breaks out in small hives when I let him lay in the grass too long.

I would start by a change in diet like stated above. Acana and Orijen are great grain free foods.

well I was giving her Purina which is what I always fed my Lab,but I was reading other threads and seen that it has a very low rating So 2moro I'll be headed to the store to try a high rated food. Not sure I can afford the raw diet though so I'll have to try dif dry foods first.

It could definitely be the purina. My girl has LOADS of food allergies, and when I switched her to raw, it all disappeared. All grains (aside from barley, but she doesn't NEED it in her diet, so I don't feed it), a few common kibble preservatives, and dyes. She was red, itchy and bald in places before we changed her diet. She's also allergic to grass, so occasionally we need to pop a benadryl. Depending on which food you go with, raw isn't really all that much more expensive. I can feed my 3 dogs (55lbs, 15 klbs, and 6lbs) on $70/month. Which is far less than we were paying for Orijen a month. Of course, I shop sales and stock up-- makes a difference.
