It's not the best, but it's also not the worst.

Canidae food?
I was feeding my dogs Nutro and having problems so my vet recommended Canidae or Royal Canin. I had no luck with either so I ended up switching to Nutro Naturals grain free and all of my dogs love it. But again it isn't the best food their is. I tried Blue Buffalo, Wilderness, and Taste of the Wild as well with no luck.

Have you tried Acana?
Ecko did pretty well on it before I finally made the transition to PMR.

Depends on the dogs my dogs all have personally been their best on Diamond products other then a small window on Acana. It has always worked best on my older dogs. I currently feed Canidae ALS to the majority of the dogs 1 still gets Acana.

I haven't tried it yet but everybody talks about price for a 30lb bag. Does it come in bigger sizes? I go through a 30 lb bag every other day pretty much so I need something bigger than that.

As far as I know that's as big as they get.
Holly crap! How many dogs do you have?
If you go through that much per day, I would just feed the one or two with alergy issues Acana. I switched Ecko to PMR due to allergies. The Chihuahua is still eating the Acana and an ocassional chicken wing for her teeth.

Wow 30lbs in a couple days. I agree with Ecko I would only feed higher grade food to the ones that need it if you have to go through that much in just a few days. It will save you in the long run.

I have way too many dogs that's how many lol. They aren't all mine some of them are my step kids dogs but I feed them all. We have 3 border collies, 2 American Bullies (88 and 60 lbs), an Australian Shepherd, 2 pit bull type mutts, and a Chihuaha. I also feed one of the neighbors dogs that comes over and doesn't look well taken care of. I don't know if any of them have allergy issues they just had dull coats and we kept going through issues with diarrhea and they finally are looking good. Everybody is nice and shiny now and have solid poppies LOL.

I fed Canidae briefly but it still has grains in it which my boy is intolerant of so it ended up being a stepping stone feed. After Canidae we went to TOTW, now we feed Acana.

Defying Gravity
|
Canidae used to be a better food. I fed it for about 2 years, and then they started tinkering with it and my dogs never adjusted to the change. We switched to Taste of the Wild. That's not to say another dog wouldn't do well on Canidae, but at the end of a big bag of their "new" formula, we still had loose stools. It shouldn't take THAT long to transition. (This was back in 2008. I don't know the state of the food now.)

re canidae
Ihave used canidae for about 4 years after my holistic vet recommendaed it for my baby, she has skin dermatitis & a sensative somache. The vet also recommended tatos of the wild, wellness & something else i dont remember.
I got the candiae beef & ocean fish since i was told to stay away from grains to see if that helped- it worked for about years now, even furing the reacall last may we werent affected, but I noticed with the last 2 bags i bought that she has really loose stools & has lost weight- i did a seach & found alot of people having the same issue i am having, that was friday night, i bought Fromm gold yesterday babysming after doing alot of reasearch fri night & talked with a guy at a new pet food store - i have feed 4 bowls to my baby & her stomach is settled & her stools are normal again- i wont go back to canidae not sure what the problem is but I dont trust any food under the diamond umbrella anymore. Too many food reacalls for me to feel like I am feeing my baby a good food.
I feel safer that the food i am feeding now is better & the company has never in a 108 history never had a reacall. I know others love canidae & I used to be one of them but not anymore.
