How to keep dry kibble fresh and how much should you buy?
People with numerous dogs like myself, I purchase enough for a month which is right now 4-5 bags of food per month (40lb. bags Kirkland) I also don't open any bags until they are needed for the sake of keeping the food fresh. I purchase a big tub (storage type tub) from wal mart for 8 bucks and a 40lb bag of food fits perfect andworks excellent to keep the food fresh which is important. That is why I don't open all the bags and fill up a trash can because by the end of the month the food is starting get stale and the food loses nutritional value when it gets stale, older it is the less effective it is. I check the dates to make sure I buy the fresh bags instead of just grabbing a bag, the store will sell expired food so double check. Make sure to keep food out of the heat, especially dry kibble, a slight bit of moisture and heat makes the food grow mold. I store all the bags inside to make sure mice don't get into and that I am not attracting un wanted animals to my yard. Mice love dog food. This is what I do let's hear some more.

I only have 1 dog, so I buy a 30 lb. bag approx. every 3 weeks or so. I bought a storage container from Target (that can hold up to 40 lbs of kibble) that has a lid that snaps and seals, it came with a cup as well. I poor the contents of the bag in there, and store it in my garage.

Ours goes in the cooler we dump a bag at a time in the cooler with a measuring cup so when it's time to feed it's pretty simple

I like the cooler idea, I am sure that would keep it super fresh, that way and easy to clean also.

I like that cooler idea aa well...maybe you could use one of those marine coolers if you have alot of dogs..like shadowgames. i will have nine by november myself. I wish we had costco around here so I could find kirkland food. We keep switching foods to find one that is affordable yet nutritious too. Nature's Recipe is what we are currently feeding them but have tried innova, nutro max, nutro ultra and a few other 5 star brands but is just too expensive for that many dogs.
