long story if u know about chyna just skip to the bold
So i dont know if you guys have heard the story of my landlords dog, Chyna. she is about 2 and a GREAT pitbull (we bealive she is a mix but we cant tell) anyway, the bought her as a pup and of course showered her with love. as she got older and got bigger, they started putting her in the backyard. Its a HUGE backyard but she started to lack the people interaction she needed. When me and my moved into our place, we met Chyna. I instanly fell in love. her big fuzzy face and sloppy tounge showered me with excitement. well we have been living in our place for about a year now and i noticed chynas health starting to dwindle away. everyday, that poor dog stayed in teh backyard, had no one spend any time with her. talk to her or even play with her. then i noticed for two days her bowl had remained empty. i quickly rushed to the store and bought some GOOD dog food and brought it to her. (along with some raw hide and some treats) i made my mind up that i was gonna be her friend!
well its been about 6 months of me walking her everyday (sometimes even a jog) buying some better dog food, doing basic obiedience with her. She is a wonderful dog, and i love her company. well my landlord said he apprecaited my affection for his dog but that he didnt think it was necassary for me to buy her dog food because she had some "perfectly" good dog food (aplo????)
I asked if she was updated on her shots. and my LL informed that she hasnt got shots since she was a puppy so like A YEAR LATE! **sigh**from that point forward i noticed her coat gettin real thin, and patches of fur were falling off... fleas, flys and bugs of course irritated her skin and just made everything worse. I gave her a flea bath and thru a flea collar on her since thats the best i could do as far as not pissing my LL off. but her health was starting to go downhill....
one day i walked in the backyard to take chyna on our walk and i saw a dead possum laying on the cement. i looked at chyna and noticed scratches on her belly and face and bite marks behind her ears. i IMMEDIATLY ran to my LL door and told him what i seen. He said he would take her to the vet tomorrow, and get the possum cleaned up tonight. the next day i came again to make sure she went to the vet and saw the animal patrol parked in teh driveway, my heart dropped! i thought they were gonna take her away, i ran to the back and saw the lady baggin up the possum and telling my LL to get chyna to the vet. He said he would "tomorrow". i was pissed!!!
that evening i looked up places to take her and found a vet right by the house. so i picked her up and took her. the vet checked ehr out and said she had alot of skin porblems, and he wanted to take a sample of her stool. bascially she is not doing good and at that rate she is not going to get better. i told him she was my LL dog and i was jsut concerned for her well being. he told me he could do ehr shots and prescribe her some meds, for like half of the normal price. i paye about 50bucks for everything and walked out. i left the vet invoive on my LL door so he would be aware of her health issues and tha ti had taken care of them. I was kinda expecting him to at least speak to me about it but hehasnt said anything yet. now two weeks later she is recovering and doing much better. her coat is BEAUTIFUL! i have been feeding her Blue Buffalo Wilderness and arranged with my LL wife to cover that expenense. She agreed and felt sorry for puttin chyna thru this and told me that if/when i ever leave, she would feel more compfortable for chyna to come with me. Chyna comes over to my house at night and hangs out with Kenya until about 9pm and then we walk back to the backyard for her to sleep. But lately i have been kinda lazy and its been kinda chilly so she has stayed at my house with me.
its pretty pricey having two dogs to care for but i knwo in the end it will be all worth while. plus kenya gets her her energy out by playing with her and it takes the cuilt off me when i am tired from work and dont wanna play right away.
