Well, I've totalled up the vet bills on Neela. Within the past 4 years I have spent $4,000... That's a lot of money seeing as though I'm only 22 now.

Neela now is going through her immunotherapy for her allergies... I went out of town 2 weeks ago (only for 3 days) and on the second day that I was gone she was due for her shot.

I paid a girl (chassie) $100.00 to come and take care of the dogs and make sure that Neela got all of her medication: prednisone, cipro, and hydroxazine and her ear wash and topical steriod for her ears... I made little daily survival packs (daily doses in individual packs) so it was fool proof! I also instructed the girl not to have Neela out with EITHER of the other two dogs because we were in the process of weening her off of the Prednisone and it makes her "funny" towards them... She has gotten ahold of Indi 2x and I have vowed for it never to happen again. We are firm Crate and Rotate bulldog owners now.

I hired a seperate girl (Jennifer), who works for my regular vet, to give Neela her Allergy shot. Well, when Jennifer got to my house she found that Chassie locked my deadbolt by mistake. Jennifer called Chassie to have her let her in... it took Chassie over an hour and a half to get home (which makes it around 11pm).

Neela had went to the bathroom in her crate (which she never does), so Jennifer took her out and let her go to the bathroom and then administered the shot. about ten minutes go by after the shot and Neela starts having a severe allergic reaction... puking, pooing, itching, and turned beat red. Jennifers cell phone was dead so she ran out to her car and put it on the charger then immediately called me to ask what I wanted to do. We came to an agreement that she was to take neela home with her to watch her (i feel comfortable with Jenny taking Neela home because she owns bully breeds herself)... and after that Jennifer proceeds to tell me that the Chassie girl was just then feeding my dogs, and she didn't think that she had been there all day. In the mean time while Jennifer was talking to me Chassie puts Neela back in her cage and gets in her car to leave... while neela is still going through her spell!

Neela survived the episode. I went to pick up my house key from jennifer and neela saw me for the first time in 3 days. She whined in her crate as I left to unpack some things, but i was coming straight back to get her... within 15 minutes of me being gone Neela desided she no longer liked Jennifers 5 year old son. She was nasty through her crate to the little boy.

2 days later neela was scheduled for her next shot so i jumped on the opportunity to take her to the vet to have it done there just in case the allergic reaction happened again. While there I spoke with the vet about neelas health issues as well as her hightened aggression with the steriod use. Dr. Thoma informed me that it's rare, but if you have a slightly off dog and you put them on Prednisone it can easily unmask a VERY off dog. We desided together to file Neelas K9s down for an extra preventative messure. Neela has always been territorial over the car and the front gate, but NEVER in any other circumstances. Also, the shot at the vet went very smooth and she had absolutely no allergic reaction to it... the vet informed me that Chassie must've not given her her medication in the morning or that night.

Good lord, I can't stress enough to you potential owners, DO NOT BUY FROM A BYBER! Neela is a whole lot more of a dog than I ever intended on buying.

Man, that's crazy, what kind of food do you feed her? Have you tried all the alternatives? My boy is from a BYB, and blue, and he has not had any allergy issues... yet.

I ask about the food because I once read a testimony on the Canidae website about a dog owner that went through all kinds of stuff with her dog, meds, shots, etc... and she stated that when there was no hope, she started feeding Canidae, and everything got better. I know, may not be true, but you never know.

You are a more patient one than I.
I don't treat certain ailments like imune problems, cancer and or HA.
I have been blessed to have generaly healthy animals and most of the pits were rescues from BYB.
I hope the dog recovers well.

Nesone... I tried all the dog foods under the sun! The one that I did find to help her and make her 85% better food allergy wise is Science Diet Salmon and Potato D/D which is around 90 dollars for a 40 pound bag. the 4000 dollars does not include the special diets this dog has been on!

I've had Neela for 4 years now... I couldn't sell out to my four year old because they happened to have health issues... I don't have kids so that's where my comparison comes in. Although, my dogs are raised around family members children.

Neelas attitude has come back to normal now that she's been off the Prednisone for almost 2 weeks. It's just every time I get a prescription of that stuff she gets little worse when being weened off of it.

I also don't put any of my animals in any position to be ABLE to bite another human... even the friendliest animal has the ability to bite and I can't afford that lawsuit.

Alot of people do get some pretty darn good dogs from BYBers... the BYBer I got neela from was more "puppy mill" like though... she always has litters.

Patch, I will definitely give the pups hugs and kisses!

Smokey, the girl hasn't had the nerve to show her face since. I changed my locks because I never recieved the key back! She knows she's done wrong... I tend to come off as a scary Biotch when irritated... and I was definitely irritated when I spoke with her that night!

Oh Shana I'm so sorry that you have to deal with this. Neela hasa good home with you. It is so hard when you try everything but nothing seems to work. Sending up good thoughts for you and Neela.
