My first dog ever!

Hello everyone! My name is Jose aka chachi and I am a first time pit bull puppy owner so I'm here to learn and give her the best life possible. Her name is Laila she is about 5-6 months old but I'm not sure to be honest because her first owner ended up going to prison and well I took it upon myself to save her from going to a humane society. I'm pretty sure she is what you guys call a blue nose with a dark chocolate/white coat but I will post pictures soon and you guys can let me know. I've always loved pit bulls but only until recently has my little brothers allergic reaction to animal hair been over come so we couldn't have pets. None the less I think they are gorgeous dogs and I'm thankful I have her now. I forgot to mention this is also my first puppy period so any helpful tips would be greatly appreciated. Thank you guys for your time and I will try to post pictures soon!

Welcome to the forum. Blue nose is just a stupid slang term someone made up. BYBs(back yard breeders) use this to try and make their dogs sound rare or special when it is not. It is not a kind, type, or bloodline at all. Blue nose just means that the dog has a blue colored nose. Ive seen many many people advertise half blue nose, half red nose pit pups for sale. Lol that is physically impossible. The dog would literally have to have a butterfly nose with red and blue which is genetically impossible. Nose color has no meaning what so ever. There are no such thing as different kinds or "types" of "pits" Its either an American Pit Bull Terrier or its not. Being as your dog is a dark chocolate color it would be impossible for it to have a blue nose. Chocolate, is pretty much just saying dark red or brown, in which the nose would be some shade of red, more than likely darker like the dog itself. Then there are dogs like mine who can appear to be a chocolate or brown, but also looks black or blue depending on the light. This is called seal. The dog appears to be black but as the light changes you can see the brown and blue undertones. Even though his fur appears different in different lighting the nose still remains black. The only way to tell what breed of dog you have, wether its APBT, American Bully, or American Staffordshire Terrier, would be to look at his registry papers and see what his lineage is. Did he come with any papers or did you guys not bother since dude was headed to jail?

Thanks everyone!

Thanks for the knowledge! Now that you mention it I noticed her fur does the same as your dogs, in different lighting it goes from dark brown to a bluish grey. And as far as papers I'm not sure if we got any. The lady that went to jail was a friend of my uncles and he was the one who asked me if I wanted her or else she was going off to the pound. So as far as breed goes I guess I have to do some research for some papers. But anyway thanks again!
