Rio's pit bull kingdom and kennel

So many of us like using rio's apbt kingdom for research/story's photo references all that, what some may not check out on the site is the dogs they have for sale, they also have kennel.
Funny thing is it's mostly game stuff, jeep,Chinaman alligator.sarona[dont think thats game completely, maybe some staff,[correct info appreciated],
And those dogs are big,not just a little there monsters,110 pd male.So heres a question for debate or conversation more like it[debates are bad i guess],
"when you take a game dog and breed for anything other than performance do you gain size loose temperament & type?
this is relevant and open for discussion, any thoughts Ive got mine,id like to here yours.
and if you think this is a stupid question like Ive been told by some,"why post this, its stupid"then don't reply,it will avoid needless banter geared towards slander and negativity but if you've got ideas or more questions by all means let's hear them.
Peace and chicken greese
Keith.

Seems like it always gets like that. Then again, the type of people who like everything but the fight are usually the type to like a bigger, prettier dog. I doubt that's a coincidence.

Ya,i knew your answer buz.I do think it's mostly self explanatory, everything but the dogs incresing in size that is.I mean i can see if a game dog was selected for small size that once that selection stopped it would gain size but since they wernt selected for size period it is puzzeling me.Unless it just happens to be that the dogs that performed the best,or the gamest dogs were the smallest dogs, maybe the ones with the most terrier influence and once the game dogs were selected for something other than the box the litters began increasing in size?Or Rios kennel is selecting for a large size in game dogs, but many game dog afficianodos would conclude that any 100 plus pound dog is a cross bred dog, funny thing is they don't provide pedigrees so that much is left up to speculation.Id figure after years of selection for anything other than gameness or even a generation or two you'd loose all types of stuff but gain size?thats a new one to me.So it's a good question with out a solid answer, you'll definetly get staffs in temperment but will you get mastiff in size?

I think yes, if you breed for something other than performance and function, those things become diluted in your program. They probably stopped breeding the "best"(due to not being able to game test) and started breeding the "biggest" because that became the fad. They are big dogs, but they arent "over-done", just dont look conditioned at all... So you could prolly minus a few lbs if you conditioned. But, I only see one male over 100lbs. Just my 2 cents, sorry if its well-worded, just woke up...

I think Sarona dogs were gamebred and started getting registered UKC. Not necessarily a Staff infusion. But I don't know for sure. The pedigrees I've seen go back to old rednose game stuff, like Clouse.

As for the question, let's just say I believe people can take any bloodline and ruin it. I also think that without a pedigree, we don't know for sure just how much Chinaman, Jeep (etc.) is in those dogs. I googled the page and didn't see peds.

thanks for the opinions pit&giggles and bahahmutt.Somehow I'm thinking theres probably some watchdog blood in there, justa hunch,i see some blues i believe and that isn't a common game dog color to say the least, yes its happened but not frequently.
I figure there selecting for bigger stuff and not breeding for performance, just a hunch, heheh!.
Ive never heard anything about the kennel or heard of anyone purchasing a dog from them ever, but i get the sneakin suspicion there pricey.

genetically speaking it all boils down to selection but thats just my opinion. i would think the majority of the apbt's being bred now a days have lost some gameness, some more so than others. i mean these dogs were bred to fight that is their function with out that they dont really have direction. i mean you can do wp with them and various sporting things but at the end of the day i dont feel any work can replace the box. i know some are gonna come down on me for my view on this but the proof is in the pudding. the oldtimers bred dogs according to eye and experience and imo they bred better dogs than the dogs we have today. like i said just my thought people, just my thoughts

as for their price's i think thier not bad at all, 400 bucks a pup.

Your thought is true in alto of ways, but I'm of the theory that theres probably just as many game dogs as ever, possably spead out to different country's and very hush, hush in the states as it should be but if there tested for it there out there, theres just way more bully's,pitterstaffs and pet bulls than ever so compared to that it a very small percentage.I agree that the Rios ones are selected for size as well, how else do you get a 110 pound male, jmo.

DEFINITELY,I AIN'T KNOCKING IT,I'M JUST USING THERE KENNEL AS A REFERENCE FOR A QUESTION THAT COULD GO FOR ANYONE BREEDING GAME LINE APBT FOR SOMETHING OTHER THAN PERFORMANCE AND OR GAMENESS.sorry for writing in capitals, its bad forum edict.

I enjoyed their history stuff and rolled my eyes at their dogs, don't know what to tell you. I wouldn't buy any APBT that had a sire or dam over 65 pounds, and I'd prefer one to have their dogs go under 55.

i always hear that REAL gamedogs could never be more than 65 lbs. if larger heavier gamedogs don't exist then what is the catchweight class? 70lbs on up if i aint mistaken proof that larger heavier gamedogs exist and have always existed. this is not a new term catchweight dogs have always been around. even recognized by most top gamedog breeders today like tom garner he has a 90 lb catchweight dog for stud in the journal today as we speak.

Big classic ADBA APBT's existed, game ones at that, but when you have a page full of bitches weighing 80+ pounds than you have a kennel full of dogs I have no interest in, key word being "I."

When I see a kennel full of huge "American Pit Bull Terriers" I see a breeder that never "got it."
