Well my concern I guess is what normally plagues the bulldog... Joint problems..

However, I did see the wp pictures and that's awesome that they work the dog!

AB's should be on the larger size, well worked you can get a lot of weight to them, but that does seem a little excessive. the dog looks good but if i was looking for an american bulldog i would think twice. like said before they are prone to joint problems, and for one dog to be that size i would worry alot about inbreeding, just exacerbating the health problems. JMO.

I talked to my fiend and she said it is on the large side but ppl to get that size the same thing that was done to the APBT. The are mix breeding them and paper hanging to get them larger and in the bulldog community they call them bullies too. Many that you see that big are way too fat and over weight and if at proper weight they would be more around standard like in the 140's.

I really like her bulldogs she keeps them in working weight, this one is 67lbs

Johnson bulldogs are a mix of about a dozen breeds or more if i remember correctly, heres another photo of mugsy,or shaq as there calling him,he breeds alot of dogs around here and crops there ears so alot of the time you see a giant mastiff type bulldog and have no clue what it is.
as for him being a working dog,id disagree,he may pull wait, but any dog can,and of course hell pull alot, hes huge.
as for the littler ab posted by Lisa,it looks like a hybrid of Johnson and Scott strains,my favorite type is the Hines strain, alot of pitbull was used in the performance types creation,if i believe right,it was the Hines, painter and margintina lines.

hes got famous dogs in his linage like Johnson's dick the bruiser,I'm not really that versed in the ab,but i figure a 100 to a 120 pound Johnson dog would be the most functional,
the performance type between 70 and 90 pounds will work well for getting r done.

I prefer the Scott type or performance bred bulldogs. The larger ones like that are called bullies. We have a friend that had a beautiful male, he was around 120, but mostly our friends have the Scott type. Alan Scott is a great guy, great to talk to. He may be known for his bulldogs, but that's where I have gotten my patterdales from. He has some game, hard working patterdales. Just got one from him last week.

Most bulldog people I know are very particular that the dogs are health tested and can perform in all areas, as a bulldog should. The do protection, pull, catch, everything they are supposed to.

I also like the Leavitt bulldogs, David Leavitt is a great guy too, extremely knowledgable on pit bulls too.

Yeah I think the one she has she called a hybrid and she did not breed that one. I do not know what she use to breed but she had working one that she did PSA with. She has been educating me little by little with the American bulldogs and it is really fascinating with the different lines and looks. She has some big bulldog show next weekend out on the east coast some where she is getting ready for.

I am pretty sure she said they have mixed in breeds like the saint Bernard with some of the bullies but I didn't post it because I thought I heard her wrong but this picture look a litter Bernard to me, whatcha think?

There is a big NKC show in Chicago the last weekend in Sept. Our friend Mary Wheeler is going, I know she is judging the weight pull, she is coming by to get our scales, and she usually judges conformation too, but I'm not sure about this one. Mary has a couple of hybrids too, but they are more on the standard side.

I love the bulldog shows, they have so much going on with the protection, weight pull, showing, driviest puppy - that is soo fun to watch, sometimes tug-of-war, just a really good time at the shows. I also really admire a lot of the bulldog people, they are so committed to making sure they have well rounded dogs that serve the purpose a bulldog should.

There is something about that bulldog's head, maybe it is the colors, I don't know.

ya they used st Bernard, thats why occasionally they are born with long hair,i "googled" some info and found that one of JD Johnson's dogs supposedly was 175 pounds,i guess take it for what its worth,i can vouch for this dog however.biggest dog Ive ever seen, and it runs around the front yard without a leash.its a scary friggen dog,he'll growl at you and stuff.but his owner told me he got whipped by a pit,dog latched on to him and mugsy was screwed.it told the owner, you'd probably get more $ for those puppy's if you put a title on them in weight pull or something so he did,he offered me pick of the litter, but it was still like a 1,000$ and i have no interest in a huge slob.but if your in woodland ca,and you see a giant Johnson bulldog, thats probably the sire.the white female with cropped ears i saw as a 9 month old puppy, looked just like a all white bandog,it was cool looking.
owners named Josue, and hes got a full scale operation right in his back yard.
honestly, for a dog that size,it isn't really pulling that much weight, sure it wins body pound trophy's but,its huge.
ill agree with the Levitt bulldog comment,i love those dogs,Polly and mox,two foundation dogs lived to be 16 and 18 respectfully.David Levitt is a member of this form, search his name.he never logs in or posts however.but its cool to have a dogman of his caliber on the site, even if for a minute.
