IMO, AKC people seem to take more care in which dogs they breed, is this why AMSTAFF's now have a distinct look regardless of bloodline? Probably, the AKC is very strict on confirmation. ADBA and UKC APBT's only seem distinct by bloodline. It's almost as if every bloodline has become it own standard of what the dog should look like (size, shape, color, etc...). How often do you hear AMSTAFF breeders discussing bloodlines? This seems to be the most important thing when talking about an APBT. With AMSTAFF's traits were bred out. With ABPT's some traits were bred in (sometimes by crossing with other breeds).

which really means the ukc and adba really dropped the ball in managing the breed, that is why theres so much confusion regarding the breed.I mean what the hell is this breed?it starts to get old, i mean is this dog just a cross bred designer dog or is it pure bred, the registrys better buck up and make up there mind...

That's actually how I feel. This isn't anything new or recent, it's a known fact that a lot of ol' time game breeders were very secretive about their breedings, are the pedigrees of the past even correct? The UKC and ADBA had accepted hand written pedigrees in the past. Recently the UKC and ADBA seemed to have buckled down their registration policies. They no longer accept hand written peds unless verified by a recognized kennel club. Can you imagine if they did? Now we just need owners to take more care in breeding and these fly-by-night and big bully kennels need to stop hanging papers. The problem will never be completely resolved but maybe it can be narrowed down.

Where'd you run across this one??? Even though I have a big ass LCD monitor I'm still kinda shakey on what it reads, does it say that he is a cross, has brindle BD in him, and started up the colored BT lines? If that is so then I'm amazed!

It says he was a manchester terrier x bulldog[old bulldog of course]and was mated to white bull terriers to start the colored bullterier breed,or at least a very influential line of them.
As for nigerino,he was ceartily a nice looking game dog!

Stormer definately stands like a BT. I really like the look of psyco, I think it's what the AmBully breeders ought to be going for!

From what I gather, "Irish Staffy" is a term used much in the same way that "pit bull" is used here in the states. Meaning that a lot of guys call their dogs IS to work around the pit bull ban over there. I have seen some called IS that looked like monster SBTs and they actually look good. If bully breeders did a little research, they would see that there are bigger dogs out there that can be well porportioned and functional. If I wasn't working with dial up I'd post some pics.

Irish staff is the name game battle dog's go by in the uk i believe.
A mix of staffy/bull terrier and whatever "pit bull" blood they can use,
They are taller and lankyer than the show staffy, healthyer, gamer, much like the american game dog.
Apperantly they also have dogs called badger dogs that are bull and terrier dogs used for fighting badgers.

reply to badger dogs
Badger dogs.
When people mention a badger dog in the UK or Eire, it can mean one of two things of both.
(1) It can be talking about Brock or badger trials. Which were legal in Ireland not that long ago. This was a competition for drawing badgers out of artificial sets. Basically a dog pulling a badger out of an artificial set.
(2) Or it can be talking about the illegal act of badger baiting. Where badgers are fought against terriers (all kind of terriers not just bull and terriers) either in real sets or the captured badger is taken elsewhere to be fought against dogs (sometimes the badger is fought without being injured first, or sometimes it will have its front legs broken or some such injury inflicted on it first, to prevent too much damage being done to the dogs). These fights are to test gameness of terriers not to see which dog can kill a badger (most dogs in a fair match, will EASILY be killed by a large male badger that is willing to fight)
Terriers of all kinds are used for fighting underground; they just have to be small enough to get down the set and either fight the badger there, or hold it at bay to mark its location while the terrier man digs it out.
As for captured badgers, well all types of dogs are used and small size is not important, as it does not involve going down a set, but mainly staffs and their close relatives (staffs, ebt, pit bulls, etc).
As for dogs that are good at drawing badgers or fighting underground, the main ones are Patterdales, Jack Russels, Dashunds, mini ebt's, etc etc etc.
Note: Dogs that are game to badgers are not always game against other dogs, and dogs that are game against other dogs are often and usually curs when it comes to badger work and will "not have the balls to go underground and fight!"

No love for Stubby, the war hero? He was highly decorated, given the rank of a Sergeant, and a bust of him was in the White House if I'm not mistaken
