It may have been posted but for the life of me I have not been able to find anything....

What are fun tricks you have taught your dog? Cain knows sit, shake, down, and wait. We have been trying roll over but he's not too keen on that one haha. I want to do some more but have drawn a blank on what else we can teach him. If there is already a thread on this I apologize and will go search for it and remove this one! But any suggestions would be great

Ecko knows: sit, down, heel (loosely), here, over, bang, and stay.
If your dog doesn't like to go all the way over, teach him play dead with the half way, that's what I did with Ecko. He'll roll over, but he doesn't like to. So we go with roll on your side when I say bang, LOL!

Cain sort of knows heel but he isn't bad on a leash so it isn't a big deal to us. Play dead is a good one. We will have to work on that. It'll be easier than roll over for sure haha! We tried to get him to lay down with a treat on his paw but that has caused him to no longer want to lay down! So we've stopped that for now.

Ecko's heel is nothing fancy, it's just him getting back to my side when he starts walking a little too fast.
The play dead is cute. Make sure you get video to share.

Let me ask this. How do you get them to lay still for bang? Cain is SO excited for his treat he flops around haha. And I'm worried using wait with it will confuse him.

I taught the trick by luring her down and then onto her side and then I used a hand signal for "wait"; honestly I may have also told her "wait" - I don't really remember...but the important part is she didn't get the treat until I released her with an excited "OKAY"!!! Once she got the idea and we worked on increasing the length of time she needed to lay still, then she learned you don't get the treat unless you get released - if you haven't gotten released then you haven't finished the trick.

Ok great thank! I just didn't want to confuse him or anything. We started it today and he's picking up on it pretty well. I still have to kind of guide him down but he's getting it

Our female knows the basic sit, down, shake. She also knows "pound it" (Fist bump like?) Similar to shake, but she tucks her paw under and bumps your hand with her....fist?

Reizo is 14 weeks, at 9 weeks i taught him hi five. Took him all of 5 min to catch on. Problem after that is the smarty realized hi five = treats. So i'd be sitting on the couch, he's sitting in the middle of the room frantically hi fiving the air to get my attention for a treat haha. Now we're working on ONLY doing hi five when ASKED!

I've tried roll over with both of them. Puppy doesn't get it and Yumi looks at me like i have 5 head when i try it with her. Maybe we'll try Bang!

Haha Cain does that if we are eating dinner or a snack or something. He will randomly shake the air. He does it almost anytime I tell him to sit he also shakes. Shake took him a long time to catch on too. He's very mannered and refused to paw at my hand and try to get the treat. He would sit patiently and wait for it. But he has definitely mastered it!

I love teaching tricks, even if they are stupid cause I like how much my boy pays attention when we work on them.

I do the standard tricks, but I love a touch. It is very useful when we are walking and I am trying to distract him from another dog or a bird or squirrel. I get bored making him look at me all the time, Telling him to "touch" means I want his nose to touch where I am pointing. He can almost turn the light off and on now when I ask, lol.

I also do a variation of dead dog, teach your pup the wait command and then after they get down on their side you can tell them to wait until you release them with an excited OK or whatever your trigger word is like Veronica said. I use this all the time when he meets someone, sometimes they are offended but usually it gets a laugh


I also am teaching Mel to Bow (he does down dog and up dog all the time so I am teaching to do it on command.)

Put a treat on the paw and make them wait until you give the OK to eat it. Put one on both paws! lol I walk around him in a circle and he follows me with his eye until he gets his "yeah" which is what I use instead of a clicker. Mel knows "Sit Pretty" and high five so I am now trying to teach him how to jump straight up when I say "up top" like a super high five. still working on that one. Also training jumping over my leg. and weaving in and out of my legs when I am walking. Mel picked up on that one super fast.
