buy the medium one. dont worry she WILL get better over time. shes just a young and curious pup. i had the same problems but the gentle leader will DEFINETLY help. i used it for about a month and then switched back to the choke collar and now my boy walks perfect. choke chains also work great if used properly. theres actually a trick to how the choke collar needs to be put on for it to stay at the top of the neck. maybe if you search up on google. "How to put on a choke collar" u'll get some results.

i got this off of a website :

*Even though the collar is just a loop of chain, there's a proper way to wear it. These instructions assume that when you work with your dog, he is to your left. If you walk your dog to the right side, then reverse the instructions.

With your dog in front of you, arrange the chain in your hands so that it forms the shape of the letter P. The end of the chain with the empty ring should be on the left, and the ring should be down. Now slip it over your dog's head. You do this because a choke collar works on a yank and release principle. It'll yank no matter how you have it on, but it will only release quickly if you've done it right. Pull the collar up a little, so it rests behind the dog's ears. *

with a choke collar u should have the chain bigger then usually. this way u have atleast 3 inches hanging off of the collar after its been put on at the top of the neck. and the hanging chain should be at the bottom of the neck.

if you do have a choke collar of the proper size id recomend it rather then the gentle leader. the gentle leader is just an easy way out. if you are still having problems i can post up some pictures if you need them

if im understanding your post correctly, I have to disagree. the common misconception is having a choke collar that hangs to the base of the neck. you dont want it towards the bottom, you want it closer to the head

sorry you might have misunderstood me wrong. the collar should be at the top of the neck. but the part where you clip the leash too should dangle at the bottom to keep the choke collar from sliding down to the base of the neck

head collars are a beautiful thing! We love them in our house. I would go with a medium size and do not cut off the excess until she is fully grown. The biggest issue we had when first trying them was how tight it actually needs to be around the head. It will only work properly if it is fitted properly and just like any collar or harness it needs to be checked for fit. Your dog will not like it at first. Do not feel bad about it; just get moving! Do the fitting and immediately go for a walk. I will also say the instruction video is actually helpful! I know, I know...a helpful video, but I swear it's worth watching!! LOL

After we get them walking well on head collars, we usually switch to the anti-pull harness just for the extra control, in case. I will say this though, I have a pretty severe pain disorder and there are some days that I am extremely weak and the head collar lets me walk any of my dogs with two fingers, literally. We don't have to use head collars on walks as they've gotten older but I LOVE the extra control they provide when we go to dog events!

BTW, that is a pretty baby you have there!

You can also try a prong collar. She looks around the same size as Diesel. Prong collars look evil but they're actually very effective and easy. They work like the mother dog nipping the puppy in the neck when it misbehaves. With a quick snap, the pup will pretty much learn itself that there's a limit on the leash. What we do is we have Diesels regular collar on and put the prong high on his neck so both collars are on and when he starts acting up, we'll change the leash to the prong and he stops... we're having to use the prong a lot less because he knows that if he doesn't behave, its back to the prong. It worked quickly and wonderfully...
