Well for starters why would you expect him to get along with other dogs? Is he a pitbull? If so they are a dog aggressive breed. It is something that comes with the breed and putting him with other dogs is going to end up with either him or another dog getting seriously hurt. As for kids he needs to be corrected and not allowed to bark. He needs to be properly socialized with kids. Start with older kids having them feed him treats would break the ice. Unless he is being actually aggressive which then he doesn't need to be near kids.

Pit dogs were bred to kill each other or die trying this was bred into them for 100's of generations. This is something that is genetic and it is extremely difficult to dilute. The one thing you can do is teach him focus commands so when you are in public his focus is on you and not the other dogs which I know can be very sucesful even with the most DA dogs there are. The best thing you can do is keep him away from other males altogether. Another dominant male is going to be poison to that scenario, your friend is going to have to keep his dog at home when he comes over.

The thing with kids, you can also teach the focus command and you can ask for the help of people at a pet store to come by and greet you with the dog and give him treats. This can created a positive association with strangers and other people that may lead to him seeing them as a possitive scene rather than a threatning one. Most pit dogs should be fairly friendly towards strangers by nature, this case sounds like your dog is insecure and could be fear agressive. Can you tell me more about the dog, how old you got him and what kind of training and socializing have you done? Also is he intact? if not at what age was he fixed..

i was fortunate to have david coach me thru difficult "hightened" situations. just as he said with children/strangers pet stores are a great spot for friendly positive energy variety of people. early socilisation with your dog when he was a pup was proably the best option. with my staffy being young and me getting him at 8 weeks i go out of my way on walks, rides and anyother spot you can think to find other dogs with good temperments. i do keep him on a extremely short leesh in the event that one of the dogs dosent agree with the other. Onyx at this time enjoys being around a diverse amount of dogs. we only had one incident with a large male husky that jumped at him. onyx didnt retailiate, i simply removed him and now avoid the husky and it's severly ignorant owner.

one thing that has benifited him during his pupp stage is that my parents purchased a female boxer for him as a companion. they love one another and are still learning eachother's traits. but he is asleep daily at 8pm cause of it.

i wish you and your doggy buddy the best of outcomes

Yeah, you can't. He's a Pit Bull, bred to do combat with other dogs. And you're expecting a male dog to get along with other males? That's a double whammy. It would be a great relief to your dog if you don't try to push it, just keep him away from other males. Be grateful he gets along with females and puppies.

It's best to have the dog interact with the opposite sex.
My female, hates all other female dogs, bu gets along with male dogs.

Bruno, is ok for now will both sexes, but has it out for dogs bigger then himself.

By putting your dog in these kinds of situations,as you described, you're setting him up for failure.

Pretty much everything that's already been said is right. I'd also add that you will probably need to separate your grown dog from your pup when she gets older. Just because they're opposite sexes doesn't mean they should be left alone together unsupervised.

Any dog can be extremely agressive or have a lack of confidence based on several aspects. Genetics play a huge role as well as socialization. Some dogs can be socialized heavily during their early age and still grow up to be extremely dog agressive.

Most dogs that display the trait of overly agression are fearful dogs that do not have the social cofidence to be around other dogs. The pit type comes into play because their genetic template was based on dogs bred to kill each other. Now there have been many mixing and outcrossing since then so this means you can get a pit type dog that will like other dogs but the possibility is still very much there that during a challenge from another dog his instinct will kick in and end the fight.

Altering(fixing) a dog in my opinion will not cure agression, perhaps marking and the urge to mate with other females but the dog's personality and temperament is set from the start. A surgery will not change what's part of the dog's behavior. I would go as far as stating that some dogs that are fixed become irritable and unstable. So in my opinion once again do not put all your eggs on the basket that neutering will fix this agression. You should be glad to know that your dog has already given you his behavioral traits and now you know that he hates other males and you will not get any surprises.

The dog whisper lol the tv show sure makes him look good but he is a pro and for all we know has very cold dogs, what we are saying is that is=t is in the breed nature and not an easy thing to fix nor do I think that you can fix it, a good trainer may be able to curb it but its a bomb waiting to happen and when it goes off a dog is gonna get hurt. Why push it
