My wife and I just recently adopted an ~18 month old pit bull mix. She was rescued by a woman when she was just a few weeks old. Until my wife and I adopted her, she had very little interaction with other people. Also, she was kept in an outside kennel.
She is now with us in a townhouse. She was very scared of us at first, but is not loosening up a lot. The problem is she is not house-trained. I have a crate that i keep her in a night and take her out often. However, she will NOT potty outside. She will sniff sniff and sniff but never use the bathroom outside. She seems slightly scared of being outside, and I think she might see it as punishment when I take her out. She's never excited about it. She's is also very scared of new people and dislikes men in particular.
I have heard pits can be very stubborn, and I need some help. We really love her, but need help getting her to cooperate, and tips getting her more socialized.
All advice will be greatly appreciated.

Also, I forgot to mention. She isn't very into treats. She will take them sometimes but she never seems very excited by them. Again though, we have only had her for a week, so maybe she just isn't used to our ways of doing things yet. She definitely has her quirks.

There are lots of threads on training. You can search for specifics or post a thread if you are still uncertain. But how long do you leave her out to potty? Before she goes inside is she sniffing a lot? Doing anything to say "hey I'm about to pee!" Or anything? With mine I made him stay out until he went. He sniffed a good 5-10 minutes before he would go. So when I saw him sniffing outside we went so he could go. After a while he associated outside with potty and play time so when he needs to go he walks to the door and sits there until I take him out.
