This is my 3 year old AmStaff/APBT mix, I was told the bloodline was jeep red boy but was never produced papers. He was rescued from a friend of mine who could not take care of him.

Thank you, he's about 67 pounds now I wanna put a little more muscle on him. Does anybody have any tips as far as food and training

i always recommend grain free food when it comes to this breed. I personally feed Acana Regionals Wild Prairie and add salmon oil. but when it comes down to training, hand walking, spring pole, flirt pole and swimming are great. go easy at first and work him into a good routine.

One more question lol, I plan on getting him a female soon but I don't know if I want an American staff or an APBT, I'm very new at this and i don't know what breed he shows more of

I wouldn't breed him. Thousands of mutt puppies die in shelters daily there's no sense in bringing any more into the world. Neuter him and enjoy him he's a beauty!

What do u mean by 'getting him a female'? If ur looking for just a companion then it doesn't matter what breed u get. If ur looking to breed him, then there's a lot more research to be done. Not to mention that without papers ur pups would just be mutts. APBT and AmStaff are 2 different breeds from 2 different registries, that's why the person you got ur boy from didn't give u paperwork in the first place.

I contacted the breeder it seems both parents have papers, so I'm guessing with papers he's still a mutt?

If one is AmStaff and the other APBT then yes, he is a mutt.
Regardless of papers and breed, if he's not titled and you have no direction for a breeding then he should not be bred.

Until you see proof of their papers I would take their word with a grain of salt. So yes, I'd still consider him a 'mutt'. Jeep/red boy are gamedog lines, not am staffs at all. A lot of backyard breeders will just throw out some bloodlines they've heard of to make themselves seem like they know something. And even if they're registered, that doesn't mean your dog should be bred. Just because he's pretty and you think he's a good dog aren't good enough reasons to breed your dog. Millions of 'pit bull' type dogs die because of this mentality. There's a lot of research to be done if you actually want to be a breeder. I'd first start with finding a reputable mentor with dogs (working or show, etc) that you like. And research research RESEARCH.

If the parents are indeed one AmStaff (AKC) and one APBT (UKC/ADBA) then yes ur boy is still a mutt because they are different breeds and the registries paperwork won't transfer to each other. Although there is a slight chance of him not being a mutt by blood, but that would require having the pedigree and looking at what bloodlines are there and what dogs were used. U didn't by chance get the parents registered names?

I want to be honest, I like the fact that u are actually willing to listen and learn. That's good! And what Ecko was trying to get at is that a dog really should be more than just a great pet when it comes to breeding. My rescued shelter mutt is a great pet, but he isn't worthy of breeding. My rescue group has this great flo chart to help with this.

Ok breeding is out of the question anymore thanks for the great info on the responses, also just a question what's a working or show title?

Working can be anything from hunting to agility. Show titles are generally weight pull, conformation, Schutzhund, Agility, Dock Diving and any other sport that has shows.
