She's HUMPING him!!!!
I caught my 22 week old female mounting and humping my 2 year male today. At first I thought I saw it wrong and immediately started correcting my male, but by the second and consequent mounts I realized it was my puppy girl Luna humping him. Is this normal? What does this mean? What do I do?
*SN: She's not spayed

It's perfectly normal. We have a female border collie that will hump males as well as my old pit mix reyna.

Yea our girl humped Cain a few times when we first got him. She still tries occasionally but he's fast and bigger than her and generally can get her off.

So I just hung up with a friend and she's like, Luna is trying to exert her dominance...but I'm like she outweighs my male and height wise is his size yet they sleep, eat, walk and play together without any aggression or qualm.
Is there any validity to my friends take on Luna?

Yes there is. Sheba humps Cain-well tries- because she has always been a dominant female. Cain doesn't really care and let's her be dominant.

It is normal and yes a lot of times it is a dominance issue (but not always). Spaying may help curb this but it is not a "cure" to it. Spaying is a responsible thing to do though IMHO unless you are planning to show your girl. Work on redirecting her to appropriate activities.

I am planning on spaying her as I've done my boy, it's just that things were a bit hectic in NY after Sandy hit us. Nevertheless, can you explain what "IMHO" means...sorry, but thanks!

IMHO it is short for in my humble opinion. Some people choose not to spay/neuter for whatever reason and I wasn't trying to judge those who prefer not to spay/neuter. I am sorry you were caught up in Sandy. I do have a question for you. In my area (Ohio) we have an organization that offers free or low cost spay/neuter for Pit Bulls if cost is an issue. You only had to mention "save a bull" and only had to pay $5 to get it done. A charity off-sets the cost so people can get their pit bulls/bully's fixed. Do you have a program in your area if cost is an issue? You can google free or low cost spay/neuter for pit bulls in your area and there will be a list of places that do this. Not trying to pry just thought I would throw that out to you and others that want to fix your bully and are not able due to cost. I know my vet wanted $176 to have my boy nuetered and that was out of my ball park.lol

Nothing to worry about, dominance? meh could be excitement or just a dog who like to hump! lol I have one of those and she humps everything and is not a dominate dog at all. She's also spayed.
