Crazy in the car!!

My female, 1 yrs, is an excellent dog and listens very well.... outside of the car. For some reason, she gets super pumped and just will not listen or calm down for anything. She does her high pitched whines, runs from end to end of the backseat, jumps on the dash.. Her lips shake she is so excited and strung up! My husband won't take her in his jeep anymore because she just doesn't sit and enjoy the ride like normal dogs. Also, when we have company she springs up and jumps into arms and runs around wildly trying to show off her toys. Her tail is so powerful even though she's only 40 pounds!! Luckily, all our company loves her but my step mom wont even allow her over for that reason. She's chewed through leashes in the car, through my seat belt.. that was when she was younger but the hyperness just can't be calmed. We're putting the separation gate in my truck so she just won't jump in the front anymore. I guess my question is: How do I make her calm down and be cool when we're around other people and be quiet in the car?

my emma bear loves wearing her harnass I wonder how the seat restraint part will work for her

That's what I use for my dogs, they work wonders, and you can get them just about anywhere ! Very effective in my experience.

It just sounds like she doesn't know boundaries, not because she's a bad dog but because she wasn't taught. What do you do when she starts whining and screeching? A lot of the time we as pet owners unknowingly encourage bad behavior. My advice to you would be to start NILF (nothing in life is free) training with her. You can search the forum for "NILF" and you will find great threads that will give you the tools on improving this problem you've created. You have to teach your dog that the only way to get what she wants is by doing what you want.
Also before I forget how much exercise is she getting? You possibly may need to increase it.
