Personally I NEVER feed before any kind of workout. I wait till at least 1 hr afterwords. It takes longer to digest food than 1 hour and I worry about bloat. I was also told that if a dog gets adrenaline in their system after they eat (with in 2 hours) it cause them not to digest the food correctly. They can even not retain the nutrition from the food. I know it is more technical than that but I had a dog that was having issues keeping weight on. What was happening is I was letting her out in the dog run (45 min after eating) and she paced all day. They said the adrenaline so soon after eating was the issue. After I kept her in a crate for 2 hours min after eating she gained weight and was fine.
