It sounds to me like he is going through the testing teenage stage.
Try implementing NILIF.
Nothing In Life Is Free. Make him work for everything. Put him in a sit stay or a down stay for food, affection, treats, permission to go outside, permission to get on the couch, etc. If both of you are consistent with this I'm confident his mannerisms will change.
