Do you carry treats with you? Some people train with positive affirmation only, but I started training my boy with treats before I realized. How do you reward your dog?

If you walk with your boy, keep him by your side, preferable behind you. When he tried to go forward, since your dog is young not much physical correction should be used so its great your starting now. I U turn my dog. If he moves to far ahead of me or doesn't stay where I want I u-turn and he is now behind where you want him. He moves back ahead U turn again. The first walk I did this on I went mayyyyybe 50 feet total and we were out for like an hour lol. It was a LOT of uturns! I would work on focus training as well so your dog looks to you and woks to follow your direction.

when I first walked my boy I was so excited that when we got to the curb he would stop by himself. My trainer said that's great but what should happen is you get to the curb and I stop, my dog will stop because I have stopped, not because of a curb. Basically you want them to look to you for what to do, not make their own walk.
