I'd talk to Lisa from Performance Kennels on this one. She has agility champs, and I asked her how to make a pvc jump for my dogs.. I have to run right now, but she is on youtube, under performance kennels or k9 performance kennels someone correct me if im wrong.

What kind of equipment to do you have? This would determine what kind of run you could put together.

I have weave poles, tunnels, chutes, jumps, pause table, a tire jump and and A frame.

She's just looking for things to do with the dogs. Something she can do on her own...LOL

I used tree trunks to make jumps I also used this to make the teeter. I have a store bought one now but it worked. The pause table is easy to make you can use a coffe table and cover it with some indooor /outdoor carpet. We also used one of those huge pots that great big tree come in as a short tunnel just to get the dogs use to going though something. The PVC pipe jumps are easy to make directions on the internet and the weave poles my first ones were small sappling trees we cut and made a pointed end stuck them in the ground.

Those are some great ideas Sharon....

Are you looking into getting into competition or just for fun? You have to be careful with home made jumps. The bar needs to be displaceable so if the dog hits it it falls down. If it does not fall and your dogs hits it hard it could really injure your dog. For this PVC jumps work the best, You can make weaves at home and here is some info on it, https://www.gopitbull.com/agility/127...ave-poles.html
here is how you teach weaves

There are plans on line to build your own agility equipment you just need to do a little research.

Now once you make your agility equipment you need to lean how to set up a course, I reccomend getting a online subscription to clean run magazine. They have great little things you can set up at home with a little bit of equipment and they always have great articles. the online subscription is cheaper than the one send to your house.

Here is also a video I made for another memeber here on how to get started on teaching your dog to jump

Hope that's helps you get started ;)

How would u make a tire jump? Out of what could I use? Can those noodles work as a tire? I've finally got 6 jumps set up out in the back yard and when we get done poor max is drooling all over the place cause he's tired. lol I myself found a old baby crib with two side rails, and a head and foot board. Cut the rails in half and made an ^ out of them sorta like an A minus the bar under them. Then for the head board I had to cut off some so I can make it the height I needed it to be and set it up with metal fence post in the ground to hold it up. I got a walk it but its put together like at one end I have a old tote that had a hole in the bottom of it and set boards over it.. And at the other end it has the top of his old dog house.. I was just wondering about a tire jump? Noodles or what else could I use? Thanks I love this Agility thing and it is making my dog a happier one....

My tire jump I made with that black sewer pipe. I wen the the a local building supply store but I bet hme depot would have it. I got a long piece and used duct tape to hold it together. Then I had a door frame from an old kennel so it is 31/2ft wide and 6ft tall. I made wood feet and used long bolts to fasten them together to hold the frame up. I used bunge cords on each side to hold the tire steady and an old chain at the top. I can adjust the tire from on the ground to about 4ft high Vendetta will jump through that high but I don't do that alot with her. When it was all done I painted it so it looked nice.

Yes the black sewer pipe works great and go to AKC or the USDAA website and look for the dementions of how big the hole has to be. I would not use a wood frame you want it to look as close to the real thing as you can. I would make a heavy PVC frame and to get ideas go to ebay and look up tire and look at some of the ideas and just copy it. You want it top fall it they hit it hard for safty reasons so do not make it out of wood or make it to heavy, it does not look the same and can cause injury if it has no give. If you need to weigh down the bottom you can put sand in the bottom of the PVC and use end caps to keep it in. PVS a heavy size like the 2" will do the best job for the frame. Than you can use a light weight rope to make it adjustable and hold it in place. You will need Eye bolts for the sides to hole the tire in place. Again look at some designs online and copy them.

I didn't make a wood frame I made wood feet to hold the frame. It is very sturdy and doesn't topple over as do my pvc jumps do when it is windy.
