The main point was that I adopted Loki from a shelter, he was probably from a byb and with an owner that's not as stubborn or dedicated as I am, he would have most likely ended up back at a shelter. It would be really great if every person who decided to get a pit bull was ready for the time and training that goes into raising them, but they just don't.
For someone who thinks that pit bulls are so misunderstood and is so against BSL
, you should consider that the more byb that's going on, that equals more dogs, period. Which leads to more dogs going to misinformed, inexperienced owners, (most of these owners aren't going to be the ones getting puppies from a reputable breeder) which leads to more dogs with the wrong temperaments and training, and ending up in shelters. It's inevitable.
p.s. I don't breed but in my own opinion, I am really impressed by the dogs and their owners that do any kind of competition. It takes a really good dog with the right energy and focus to be able to handle themselves around that many people and other dogs, and while being in the spotlight. They also clearly have a good amount of drive, incredible training, and are all around good looking dogs. I mean if you had to choose, wouldn't you want your puppy coming from dogs and owners like that??
