Removing breed restrictions based by breed name

I know this is not BSL but i figured someone might know something about how to maybe do this. I want to know how I could get something started to help remove breed restrictions with the Apartment association of Texas or any state at that. I just wanna start with texas b/c i live here. I was evicted from an apartment for just having a pitbull type dog on the property that wasnt even mine and she didnt even know for sure that it was a pitbull or not. She said she had to think of the saftey of the other tenants. Im tired of living in a day in age were you have the internet and can really do your history on the dog and find out that they are not what the media set them to be. Hell even a your local library would have books that would prove they are not a viloent breed. Is there a way to start a petition or possibly a better way and what steps do i need to take or even how do i start. I just want so help on how to possibly get this movement started. I joined a website thats called Change.org but do know it really works or not, so i want to get advice and help from ppl that know. Breeds like pits, rotts, am staffs ect, should be allowed in any place that other breeds are allowed. They are being banned on fear and not facts. I hate seeing on Craiglist that ppl have to get rid of their dogs cuz they move into an apartment and they dont allow them. there is no reason for this. Please i just want start and hopefully get this ban lifted off of apartments and townhouses ect. thanks

Its really a nationwide epidemic. There are some pit friendly complexes, one based out of Arizona, but the fact is animals can be discriminated against, period, no matter the breed. I lived in a condo in the past and when I made an issue about my dog NOT being allowed when other people had dogs, they decided to ban all dogs instead of fighting the issue of breed specific. Basically its not a fight that I think can be won in the courts. It must be won with responsible ownership and showing people that pit bull type dogs can be productive in society with the right owners who respect them. A lot of places not get the 20lb or less limit. It is unfair, it should not be the case. In most states animals are treated as property and until you get the courts to recognize an animal as more than a possession, its an uphill battle IMO.
