Heights are scary?

Our puppy is only 4 months old, and I know as a puppy things can be scary. But heights? I took my dog up the stairs tonight, and she litterally refused. Also anytime we go through an area where there is a drop she avoids it. Nothing else seems to scare her, she's very attentive and alert. Not to mention she doesn't coward, well unless she's in trouble and she knows it.

Is afriad of heights common? Could it lead to other fears? What can I do to help her overcome this fear?

Stairs can be scary for dogs who are not use to them the best thing is not to drag her to the stairs. Try sitting on them and calling her up stair by stair, changing the look of the stairs can help her get over the fear. Only do one at time and that should really help.
Any time you drag a dog toward something they are scared of you can set the fear in s instead try and get them to go to it by having them follow you.

This is normal and you can work her out of it

My Duece was terrified of the stairs ... I live in a walk up thank goodness its one flight but it still was a lot ... I did exactly that I'd sit like 2 steps down or coming up and call his name while enticing him with his favorite snack once he came down or up thos two steps I'd praise him & giv him his treat ...then adding a step or 2 every time we went out ... took some time tho and patience ... after he got over it I had to keep him from flying down them lol... its normal imagine urself to the ground looking down those scary steps or up they look ginormous to them lol ...
