Spring pole fail?

I've always wanted to get a spring pole for Sasha. Yesterday I realized I have 3 tree's in the back and I could use one.

Anyway, I went to Home Depot, bought an eye hook and a bungee cord, I want to get a garage spring but they were 25 bucks for the pair and I only need one, plus I think I have an extra one in the garage somewhere...

Anyway, I don't think my idea is going to work. After about 5 minutes I realized the tree wasn't a good idea, Sasha scraped her knee and one of her paws has some blood(a scrape).. I don't think it's anything serious but def. not what I wanted..

Any suggestions on how to make this better?

You have to build an arm away from the tree. Think triangle shape with 4x4's with the hanging arm sticking out past the triangle.

Yea, just did some googling and noticed that... I actually wanted her to "climb" but not if she'll hurt herself..

Also it should be lower. If you lower everything it might not be so bad.

i'd say at least 3 feet away from the tree.. some dogs get wild on these

heres a sweet drawing i made in paint for you.. lol

the little grey lines going into the tree would be very large wood screws

On the subject of springs, I used what they called a swing spring, or something like that. Basically for lawn furniture. It works just fine.
