should I build a springpole?

Pinkie is does not like to play with her flirt pole at all, I have tried to use a toy, a tug rope, rabbit pelt, and cow hide she just is not very interested. I was considering building her a springpole, but don't want to waste the time effort if she won't use it.
Do any of your dogs love the springpole and care less for the flirtpole??

My dog would rather play with the flirt pole than the spring pole. She loves her spring pole but would rather be running around chasing the flirt pole. How old is your pup?

Yeah how old? They pup may just not have the prey drive for these games yet or you haven't found the toy that gets her going.

She may never get it then. I have 2 older dogs ages 5 and 7 that I never gave the bases for these games when young and they do not take to them now.

If you can find something that really gets her exited get her playing with it on a flirt pole really good and then see if you can move it to the spring pole.

I also have a female that I bred that at 7 months came back to me and she was familiarized with the flirt pole young but not spring and so even tho she is a savage flirt poler she will not use a spring pole.

American Pit has a good point. A lot of "play" has to be taught when they are younger. I know we have a 2.5yo GSD who doesn't know how to play any type of games. She just doesn't get the concept of chasing after something...lol

Hmm interesting we are told she has never been much of a player, and AP13's comment seems to make sense. She has a high prey drive cats, rabbits, a fox, and even birds are not safe with her around. So I figured she would love both poles, but seems to not care when it is a toy.

Biggest question is, is does your dog like tug of war? If no, then a spring pole would be pointless. If yes, then give it a try. Go check the "pay it forward" thread...I think someone has a spare garage door spring, you'd just have to pay shipping...you could piece together one really cheap. Good luck!

sorry, but I have been searching threads and looking online, what is the difference between spring poles and flirt poles? they both seem to be study bases, tubes or wood extension so you can have rope and tie something on for the pup to go after and chew. Not to sound dumb, but is the only difference one is tied to a rope connected to a spring and one is just tied to the rope?

Spring pole is more permanent, has a spring and the dog plays solo.

Flirt pole you hold on to and play with the dog.

thank you. I think the site I was looking at for flirt pole was calling it that, but it appears to be a spring pole, hence my confusion. Thank you.
