my personal opinion is that that kinda intense work is a little too risky to impose on a dog thats not using it in competition. You know how bad it can hurt days after a heavy session in a gym. It can put alot of wear and tear on your buddy and i cant find a good reason to risk it if not for competition.

The topic was building muscle. There seems to be a lot of controversy about it and how people say your dog just needs to run. But running doesn't build muscle.....nor do most aerobic exercises to build a lean muscular dog it needs to be training anaerobic exercises with a quality diet. A

running does build muscle, just not the groups that most likely interest you.

i think the problem is the whole "dog fighting paraphernalia" thing. spring poles and mills have been used against people in court. then theres the side who asks why have a dog built like that if you arent fighting it.

More times then not it exercises fast twitch muscle fibers but the problem with this is 9/10 you put your body into a extremely catabolic state witch is basically impossible to build muscle.
why have a dog thats muscular? Aesthetics.

A "freak" . Okay I'm just going to say OK, cause you have zero grounds for that comment cause last time I checked people or dogs that are muscular are not freaks but dedicated people/driven dogs.
But whatever .....

Weighted box jumps ( having a 5lb weight vest for example and having him jump onto something, this will give the dog explosive power just as you see football players jump out of pools to build there legs and once again be explosive)
Uphill sprints. Not jog but sprinting once again if your dog can do a uphill sprint /no more than 30 feet add harness for him to pull some weight.
A spring pole is excellent as well.
Take a dog to a stadium have it run up and down stairs with a weight vest. Remember a dog is fragile and u can't slap on a 30 pound weight vest nor would u want to.
diet is going to be about 80% of your results so have that in order before u beginany training.
