I started training my boy from the moment I brought him home. I started off with just getting him to stand for me, then moved to staying put after placing his legs where I want them. Then moved onto actually placing his legs in the correct spots and giving a command word of "Stack" You can use whatever word you want. Then once he understand Stack I moved to increasing the amount of time I ask him to stay still.

I recently started using dried liver treats. They smell amazing and really keep that focus.

If you've already taught the pup show to sit. Then watch your hand position really carefully. When I hold my hand out for stacking I noticed it looks really similar to the hand I use for sit. So try to use something completely different.

This is what it should look like in the end

Yeah I'm still trying to figure out the perfect treat hand position. Sometimes he hangs his head and that just doesn't look appealing. But as long as he's got the head up and chest out I'm happy lol.

Me too, I've tried a few times...but figured she was antsy because so young...but maybe the treat is the key...

If your talking about body building for your dog, there are two ways I know of doing this. Weight products are good for muscle building, but if you don't regularly carry you dog through everyday work outs, this could cause heart failure, or worms. To answer you question, from the looks of it, your dog is the appropriate size for these activities. The other solution is muscle building supplements, check out some of the videos I have gained on training pitbulls at *Deleted Link*

Just an additional tip... this is also where the "Focus" or "Watch Me" command would come into play. Worked tremendously with my show boy I had.

Champ looks great so far.

Ahhhhh all very good points!!! The treats work wonders, i do have chicken treats that he loves, and thats how i trained him to sit and stay with the same command.....( I snap my finger once and index finger in the air) with that command he knows to stay and sit, not to move until i call "Come on boy" then he will come and get his treat..

My thing is, i think he knows i have a treat and when i call him he automatc sit and stays right in front of me with out me telling him.. Lmao... So theres my problem.. He knows that if he sits and stays hes gonna get a treat... I try not to give him one and just telll him "good job" but looks like he getting lazy on me...

So today i tryed to stack him, and got different treats, my command was up and stay!! But his rear kept on going down becuase he knew i had a treat...

So do i give him time and not give him treats? Do i need to train him on a leash?

One thing you can try is at random times, when the pup is standing of course, give your command then treat real fast. Don't give him time to realize you have a treat, he should begin to associate that command with what you want him to do. Or you can lift his butt up and put him into a stand then treat.

This is why I stopped teaching my boy sit lol, everytime I would present the treat, he would sit.

I tired to grab by butt and he kept sitting...and once i leg go he would sit back down...i would give him the command to stand and stay, but still nothing...i guest in time...so no leash??By the way your dog has a very good stack...love it!

I didn't use a show lead until like maybe a month ago. Just focus on getting him to stand for you lol. Experiment with different way of making him stand. You'll find something that works.

You do need to give him time. Be patient and keep working with him, just like when you taught him to sit, stay and come. He needs to understand what you want, so if you need to, put your hand under his hind end, sac and all, and lift him up while giving him the command "Stand", and immediately. Again, be patient and give him time to learn it and he'll get it. Then, you can begin working on placing his feet in the appropriate setting and moving around him. After he's learned to stand, you'll need to work in the stay command... which will result in a command of "Stand Stay".
