getting started on a mill

so friday I am picking up a treadmill for roxy ( i know, about time!). When i found roxy on the streets, she was very timid of large objects. once she is around them more and gets to smell them she is ok with them. She was afraid of my guitar, mop, broom, flirt pole (at first)..etc u name it. My uncle brought in a ladder one day an roxy went nuts and he thought she was gonna attack him lol. anyways, how should i approach this since the treadmill will make some noise and it is a large object? I was thinking just have it in the garage for a few days to let her get used to it, maybe watch me walk/run on it then put her on it? thanks guys

letting her watch you get on it and use it will make her more comfortable, i would also put her food bowl on it and let her eat of the treadmill and reward her anytime she gets near and stands/sits on the treadmill by reward i don't mean just treats but also a good belly rub and lots of love and remember that patience is key to a successful dog

So I put her on it and she's scared. She walks but I gotta hold her or she will fly off. Maybe if I just keep doing this she will get the hang of it. It's an old treadmill and the lowest setting is still pretty fast.

do not turn it on until she is willing to run to the treadmill when you ask her take a day to call her to the treadmill, each time she comes to you you reward her. Then after a few times coax her onto the treadmill and reward. Good treadmill, etc. She needs to learn to associate the treadmill with good things. Until they run to get on the mill you do not want to turn it on.

she gets on the treadmill when its off no problem. here is my issue:

Its an old one. The slowest speed is not a slow walk (for a dog). I have to hold her on it. She walks but if I let go, she would fly off of it. shes walking on it but not walking with force to keep up with the speed. I guess I just have to keep doing this until she learns?
