be surprised how much u can get a used 1 for....I have 250.00 in just the slats before I plane them...I use white oak,so I don't have to do it again....if ya take care of it,it'll last forever....slats and the belts are the most $$$$....so be prepared...

welder, be truthful with him...........
he'll spend so much money trying to build one, your better off to have one built, or buy a used one.

i dont care how good you are with your hands, there is an art to it,

why do you think he's called 'welder'?????????????

your best bet is trying to suck up to welder, and get him to work with you,

best thing i can tell you is start saving your money, because the ones i know of

are between 1k-3k and if you cant afford that you dont need one anyway,

your to far down the totem pole, but once you become more involved and you see how

important one can be to a training schedule, you'll find the money.............

good luck brah,

and you wont be the only one either,

i've got something on order from him also,

plus, with him its a family operated organized operation.

A friend just sent the BF plans to build one and he is in the process of building it, it looks pretty straight forward but again no idea on how the first ones quality will be lol

Id just save up and buy a new or used one unless you are very good with building things and all that jazz.
We might try the build down the road, just to see, but chances are I am just going to buy a very nice one once we move and have the space for it. You honestly get what you pay for with those things.

thanks surfer...lol that's what I ment by be prepared.....
they can be built by anyone...but like surfer said by the time you cuss and throw stuff and scrap more than you'd like to you can pickup a good used one or even a new 1....I've gotta friend in fla.that builds soma the best out there for a good price....so we kinda made a pact, for lack of a better word.lol
I wont step on his toes and he wont step on mine....he does it to feed his fam and dogs...I do it cause I enjoy it plus it helps my kids learn to dyi....no better way to respect what you have than to build it or earn it....

I wont advertise in public but if ya pm me I can give ya his number....he's got some nice dogs also!!!

but i'd be happy to help anyone out that I can....as I said the slats r the 1 thing u CANNOT cut corners on...if u just buy 1'' x 4'''s and think they'll work ...try it !call me when you cant get it square on the belts...

get 1'' x 6'''s and have them planed to 5/8'' x 3 5/8'' and gap them 1/8'' start square and if ya lucky you'll finish square....if not you'll have a belt full of holes and in the trash!!!

this ends todays lesson...lol and thanks again surfer....
I talk too much....
ps....unless you go to a hardwood store you're going to pay from 6-7 bucks a foot for the lumber.and you need clos e to 50' just a lil fyi....

Thanks for the information and support I believe I will save for a used one like when I can afford it is when I need it. Start from the bottom to the top. The harder I work the harder they will work for me. Thanks again yall.
