Hello, my friend has 2 muck buckets filled with concrete with 2 poles coming up out of the cement. He has another pole across the top... I belive he got the poles from homedepot. His dogs have not been able to tip it yet and depending on the size of your dog might not be able to either. other options would be water coolers or something longer so it dosent pit inwards. I have ofent thought about a swing set type of desing just a little higer. maybe 2 A frames of wood or metal with another aross the top! Best wishes hope this helps a little if at all?

Something like this or?

As long as people does not make their dog swing wildly through the air i think they do alright, since the dog is pulling downwards....

Normally such a swing is fastened to the ground with "ground anchors"(roughly translated from danish) to make sure i it wont tip...but you cant tell from the pictures...

I have three appletrees in the garden that are perfect...but I'm thinking about building a springpole for a friend as well.....It's not really used in Denmark, but I hope we can introduce it here, since everyone I have shown it to think they are great...

Hello everyone I know this is an old post but related to the same topic. I own my home however, no big yard or trees. I would like to get a portable basketball hoop and fill the base with either sand or water and use the rim without the net to hang the spring pole.

Does anyone forsee issues using a portable basketball hoop?

Just buy a wall hanger. They're not expensive and a tugging dog won't want a wall.onto themselves like they will a bball hoop.

I don't understand when you say they won't want a wall onto themselves. A portable basketball hoop doesn't have a wall which is what I like seems like less chance of injury without a wall.

I am also not a fan of drilling holes into the walls of my house

He meant fall over. A portable basketball hoop is likely to be pulled right over if you hang a spring pole from it once any dog with any strength starts pulling on it

It was supposed to say "won't pull a wall on themselves like they will a bball goal."

Build a hanger out of lumber in the backyard. 1 vertical post, 1 horizontal arm, a support diagonal between the 2 for strength. Of course that requires digging a hole and possibly cementing it in.

Punching a couple easily repaired holes in a wall(should be exterior anyway) as opposed to a (semi) permanent structure or watching your dog pull a bball goal onto itself seems like a no brainer to me but whatever you wanna do is up to you...

Another question is do you even know how to properly use this TOOL? Flirt poles, spring poles, treadmills, harnesses, break sticks etc aren't toys and shouldn't be used by a novice with no experience with them.

You'll do more damage than good letting an animal play with something you're not 100% familiar with. Injuries and death have resulted in the used of all those tools by a novice pet owners. People with no real world experience on the danger of the tools recommending them to people with no real world knowledge of the tool or it's proper use is a recipe for disaster I see more often than not.
