Are either or both of them spayed/neutered? If not, that's where the problem is. You may want to contact a dog behaviorist, to exhaust all options. Good luck!

ok,first its 1 t. the reason they have started at this time is simple.it just took this long for the switch to flip.some never start.some start earlier........................have you got a ped you can post?
keep them separate its the only way.
crate and rotate.
DO NOT TAKE THIS THE WRONG WAY
But you should have done alil reserch.and you should do it now!
its not to late to keep your dogs.
you have to always expect them to fight.thats what they do.
read some history. get you some training.
hope for the best but prepare for the worst.
keep us updated
sorry for the run on,i'm not usally this diplomactic.and i cant spell.

Who is instigating? The general age for full maturity is 2 years and dog aggression - a common trait in bulldogs - can present once maturity is reached. Sometimes it can happen earlier, sometimes much later but often times, once two bulldogs decide they no longer get along there isn't much you can do to force them to. Many members use the crate and rotate method to keep multiple dogs and keep them safe from one another as a management technique. There are lots of threads already on this so you can find more info by using the search function.

Very very untrue! And a behaviorist will be able to explain pit bull dog behavior but will not ever be able to teach them to tolerate one another without an experienced leader thats on them 100% of the time. Spay/neuter is very important, but it will not do much for a genetically instilled trait. Do a little reading up on crate and rotate. It may take a week or two to get the family used to it but its easy! get yourself a break stick to help separate them if they get into it again. I know it's hard to go from happy home to separation of your pets but it has many benefits as well. I have a male and female, both spayed/neutered and have only seen each other 3 times in 8 years. Funny thing is that they both do well with my other 4 dogs. Have you noticed each time they fight, they get better at it? Do more damage and more difficult to separate?

Um, no, had them my whole life. Often several at a time, thank you, and the only time we had aggression issues is when one or more of them were intact. I have two spayed females right now and if you know anything about pack order mentality and leadership you won't have a problem. I'm trying to help someone who clearly is new to the breed. Are you one of those "know it all" types who think all pits are looking for a fight? Sounds like it.

Dog aggression can not be cured. It's manageable. It's a trait of the breed and mixes of. Spaying and neutering does not stop aggression. I have 2 dogs. Spayed and neutered. Who are both DA. Ones going on 5 and has been spayed since 6 months. She's still DA. The best is to crate and rotate so it doesn't keep happening.

The problem is most people refer to shelter and rescue dogs as pit bulls and not what they are, mutts like my dog. Nothing wrong all. Obviously if you understand pack mentality you know it takes more than just spaying and neutering a dog. But more than that Dogs are dogs and some like to fight and some don't like to fight. But those who have dog aggression its not curable, and not related to being spayed or neutered. My boy, who is neutered,is extremely reactive towards dogs with lots of training he is able to go on walks and socialize with other dogs now but he can never be left alone with any other animal because he makes bad decisions. Why set him up to fail? Why have him potentially become a news story for assuming dogs don't wont fight? Assuming spaying and neutering would do anything but help your dog be able to focus more on training is very naive and dangerous to tell people when it's medically and historically not true. I am glad it worked for your pack though. That's great. But telling someone to fix their dogs won't fix the problem. They need a trainer or to read through some of the other training threads. NOW they need to keep their dogs safe and happy and until they gain the knowledge they need crate and rotate is the best bet.

And nothin know it all about anything on here. We all learn and share. We do not set our dogs up to fail. It reflects on every dog who happens to looks like a pit bull but especially the APBT themselves who are a wonderful breed but not for everyone. Just like a poodle or a lab or a St. Bernard isn't for everyone either. These days society incorrectly call any dog with a short coat and blocky head a pit bull. I feel you never trust a dog not to fight. I don't like everyone I have to be around everyday why should I expect my dog? They need us to keep them safe.

i would not consider this breed to be pack oriented. DA can come out at any stage or point in their life.

also as a moderator here, i urge u to read thru the rules and would like to remind everyone that insults are not allowed....

I've seen neighbors dogs who have been ok with each other their entire life try to kill each other as crows gathered round I've dealt with A bit if DA myself. I speak from my own experiences and have learned from the mistakes of others I understand what the animals original intent was. As bird dogs will bring birds with out training as this is what it was bred to do an American PIT Bull Terrier is no different with what it was bred for these dogs underwent over a hundred years of breeding for 1 specific purpose it will not be bred out in 50 something years.
